"The technological singularity—or simply the singularity—is a hypothetical point in time at which technological growth becomes uncontrollable and irreversible, resulting in unforeseeable changes to human civilization."

That is the definition of singularity according to wikipedia and when I think of all the SCI-FI movies I watched during childhood I ask myself the question whether we will get to that point where humanity will face singularity.

AI is a controversial topic when it comes to this tech somehow managing to go beyond human boundaries and taking control over humanity. Now, seeing how well this planet is managed by human leaders, I'd say we can't get worse than what we have by simply letting algorithms rule.

Funny, right?...

I still remember that interview of Elon Musk where he was giving a warning to the world leaders in tackling AI with caution and also calling for regulations around such powerful tech. We already use AI, it's at the tip of our fingers by simply opening a smartphone camera, or talking to Alexa, but that's kindergarten AI.

Same Elon Musk has a company called Neuralink, a neurotechnology company developing implantable brain–machine interfaces, that are supposed to help people with disabilities and others willing to enhance some of their capabilities through the use of such chips... BRAIN IMPLANTED CHIPS.

What happens when AI goes crazy and turns you into a psycho marine rather than a great piano singer, or when that AI is making you believe your wife is your worst enemy? Could that happen? Probably... There's also the saying that whatever army style type of tech gets into the hands of the general public it has already been used by army for decades already.

To what extent armies and governments are involved in AI development, and could that escape their control?

Probably...

"If someone can ensure a monopoly in the field of Artificial Intelligence he'll become the ruler of the world"
-Vladimir Putin (2019)

I'm taking all this AI with a grain of salt. On one hand I appreciate technology "doing the dirty work" for us, but I hate it "when it gets dirty", and can't even imagine how life on earth would look like when its growth becomes uncontrollable and irreversible, resulting in unforeseeable changes to human civilization. What do you think?

Thanks for attention, Adrian
