Introduction

In this wealth principle 40, I talk about creating Keystone Habits where keystone habits are defined as the cornerstones. The keystone is arguably the most important stone when building a bridge and the same applies in your life when you're looking to get somewhere new and you're building the bridge, you're building different pathways to the next level, you need to have those keystone habits that will clinch it to make sure it happens. I'm going to talk about the 3 keystone principles though there are other keystone principles that I will give away for free.

You must Learn More - 1. Know The Values.

Become fluent in market prices for rental rates and house values. Every day must learn something and I don't care if it is going to open houses, evaluate deals, read a book, watch a youtube video, or listen to an audiobook. It could also be going and talking to somebody smarter than you but you have to learn something every day.

Every Keystone principle has a dark side to it. Too much information can create analysis paralysis that will kill any real estate investor. So when you seek out information, make sure it is applicable information to what will build your wealth, make you happy and healthy.

Another keystone principle is adding value. Any person you come in contact with and make their lives better with a principle behind it as long as it doesn't take away too much time and happiness. If it is in line with something you are good at, add value, and if they have something you want add more value unless it compromises your integrity.

Take action - 2. Find Opportunities

Taking action doesn't mean just doing things, in fact, somebody said to me yesterday which I took offense to this. He said to me that I was all over the place and I have been busy. I stopped, said no to him, and told him that I have been productive. Busy is for people who are working from 9 - 5 whereas for being productive on the other hand will make you rich, hence take productive action. If being productive doesn't make dollars then it doesn't make sense. Another sub principle in this main one is to move faster and according to Connor Steinbrook who runs a podcast called Investor Army and his whole purpose is to move faster which leads me to one of my other principles which I haven't put in this program which is successful people make decisions quickly and they change them never if ever which also a keystone habit.

Find the Right People - 3. Make Deals

The final key to success as a buy-and-hold real estate investor is to make deals. Knowing values allows you to locate opportunities. But, you have to make deals in order to take advantage of the opportunities you find.

Build your team of real estate professionals who can close deals and put in offers: Agents, Lenders, Attorneys, etc... Get a coach, get a mentor, get somebody smarter than you. If you're in the success arena and you want to get wealthy, go find someone who is wealthy and ask them questions. I want to work with people with a record of success in my wealth, health, and relationships and the key principle is to surround yourself not with people who can talk but with people who have results and documented success.

If you want a secret to success, go make more money and reinvest it in those areas learning more, taking actions because sometimes you can take more productive action by delegating and managing and surrounding yourself with the right people that are smarter, happier, wealthier, richer than you and be aware of pretenders.

The Book Of The Week

Mike Schein talks about the book of the week that is Power of the Habit by Charles Duhigg which is a great book if you've been doing a lot of self-help books with no plot. The book has amazing stories like those ones of Micheal Phelps, Alcoa, and also what I have been mentioning which are the keystone habits.

I want everyone on the call to do an exercise by bringing the keystone habits we talked about earlier and putting them into play. You're going to write down Keynote habit number one and besides number one, think of one thing you could learn this week that is going to blow your business out of the water. Next is the one thing I can take productive action for a whole week that will change your career, life, business. Next [Number 3] Who is that one person you can reach out to this week that has what you want and go build that relationship with them whether it is a mentor or a coach or somebody you look up to. If it is a coach or a mentor you may have to pay them, a mastermind you may have to pay for it and if it is someone better than you in your industry, you may have to take them for lunch.
