Hello friends and food lovers! I hope you're all doing well. đ
Do you like shortbread? We love it! I'm thinking in particular of the shortbread cookies @genesisledger's grandfather often made for us; they were excellent. đ
And it had been a very long time since we'd had any! So when we came across a recipe for garden flower shortbread cookies, we didn't hesitate for a second; it was our cue to make our own!
We love the idea of ââpicking flowers from our garden and then incorporating them into the recipe! đžđŒ
Here's the link to the original recipe: Flower Shortbread Recipe.
I'm going to share with you the ingredients and preparation steps for making 25 to 30 small garden flower shortbreads đ
Ingredients
- 340 grams of flour;
- 125 grams of sugar;
- 125 grams of softened butter;
- 2 eggs;
- Garden flowers: dandelions, apple blossoms, daisies, pansies...
Preparation steps
I started by preparing the shortbread pastry. To do this, I weighed and cut 125 grams of softened butter into pieces. And I placed them in a bowl:
Then, I added the sugar:
Then, I cracked the 2 eggs:
And I mixed with a spatula, crushing the pieces of butter until the mixture was almost homogeneous:
Then, I added the flour:
I mixed with the spatula at first:
And then, I mixed with my hands until it formed a ball of shortcrust pastry:
I then placed it on a sheet of baking paper and rolled it out a little by hand, like this:
Then, I covered it with another sheet of baking paper and rolled out the dough with a rolling pin:
Once the dough was the desired thickness, which was about 5 mm in my case, I placed the rolled-out dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, I went to pick some flowers from my garden: apple blossoms, dandelions, and daisies:
After the 30-minute rest period, I took my dough and cut out circles using a glass (because I don't have a cookie cutter):
And I moved on to decorating by adding the flowers:
I didn't put flowers on all the cookies because, as it was my first time making this recipe, I was a little worried about the taste. Spoiler alert: in the end, it was goodđ€Ł
Then I moved on to baking!
To do this, I lined the air fryer racks with parchment paper and placed the cookies on top:
