Writing has been my source of income for nearly a decade. I started writing as a freelancer and worked as a ghost-writer for researchers and students. Later, I came to know about blogging platforms and started publishing my content as a social media blogger. Currently, Hive is the platform that generates money for me.

Writing has always been my passion. I used to write stories, articles and poems when I was as young as eleven years old. During my academic years I have always secured high grades in my research write-ups. Nevertheless, there is a twist to the story.

Despite being in-love with writing, a fear of not being able to write lives with me. Starting an article is often intimidating with a thought of not being able to produce quality content having thoughtful ideas, contemplations and explanations. Sometimes, I overcome this fear. At other times, I get overwhelmed by it and lose my productivity.

Unlike many other people in the field, writer's block has never been my issue. Instead, I confront a situation which I named as Creative Paralysis in one of my previous blogs. It is state of indecisiveness about which of the many ideas one should write in the given time, resulting in no productivity at all.

The other day I was thinking what would happen if I really lose my writing skills..... be it because of writer’s block, creative paralysis or any other reason! What I would do to generate income for me. The immediate answer that came to my mind was...... “Teaching".

Teaching is a profession I have always loved. During my student life, I used to give tuitions. Though for a short time, I also taught in a school; and it was a wonderful experience. Not only that I received positive feedback from my seniors but my students were also appreciative of my teaching style.

Before presenting any lecture I always did my homework, understood the lesson well and tried presenting it in an interesting and capturing way.

Although I haven’t been into school teaching for a long time, I believe I have the God gifted skills required for a good teacher. I teach my children myself, and my son often compliment me with the words, “The way you explain things is amazing.” I don’t rely entirely on the resources provided by the school, but also take into account other material if needed.

So, if some day, according to the Hive learners’ community prompt, the online space is no longer available for income generation “Teaching” would be my first option to choose for earning money.

Besides teaching, there is another domain I am skilful at. Being a stay-at-home mom and a house maker, cooking is a task, I perform daily. Over the years I have learned to cook several dishes. Also, I have learnt baking. So, providing cooking and baking service may also be in option for earning money.

In conclusion, if online space is no longer available for earning money, Teaching and Cooking are the practical skills that would help me earning the livelihood. What about you?
