Hello beautiful bloggers, hope you are all well ?

You are welcome to my blog.

Its the weekend and I will be responding to the weekend prompt #173 which states...

Have you ever worked at your job on the weekend? Explain what you like or do not like about it and why?

Yes I have worked on weekends at my job and it was not by choice at all.

My weekends are sacred and so when my boss came up wirh the...you all are coming to work on Saturday and Sunday, aarrrggghhh, it kinda pissed me off.

To be sincere, it wasn't entirely his fault but we the workers had to pay for it. Let me share my experience brelow briefly...

Me trying to make the most of my stolen weekend

So it happened while I was working in a shoe production company and we had received a production order to make souvenirs for a wedding ceremony. The souvenirs ranged from belts, shopping bags and flip flops all made with native fabric (popularly called ankara) in my country. This was a huge order as we were to make 500 pieces of each souvenir but the glitch was that the marketer brough it late, he brought it 2 weeks to the wedding day, uh I don't think he knows that we are humans not magicians.

some finished products

We had to produce those souvenirs from scratch, with minimal aid of machines, virtually everything was to be done manually. To make matters worse, some sewing machines broke down and we could not get a hold of the engineer for a whole week, that alone slowed down production

Thus the decree was issued for us to come to work during the weekend so as to meet up with the production order. At least it wasn't for nothing. My boss promised us overtime pay which will be paid to each worker at the end of the day....yay! right? Nope not for me🤨

I did go to work and cillected the overtime money ( wouldn't give that away) but I did not like the fact that my sacred days were being violated. My rest and me time was cut short plus weekend was normally the time where I did major house chores that i could not attend to during the week. So working on those weekends meant piled up chores for me oh bummer.

The good thing about that weekend experience was that we met the deadline and delivered the souvenirs 48 hours before the wedding, finally. That experience passed and I went back to having my sacred days to myself again, hahaha.

You would think it stopped there right, nope it didn't. I left that company and ventured into teaching (I read education) and because I wanted more time of rest. Who would have thought that while i thought I had more hours to rest on week days, its just an illusion because my work still extends to after school hours. There are lesson plans to prepare, assignments and subject notes to mark, examination questions to set plus extra curricular affairs to plan. So tell me where do I find the time to rest whem I am engrossed in so much work.

But unlike the shoe production company job where I felt bad each time I was asked to work on weekendsbsayyorgg I actually enjoy teaching and so I don't see it as stressfu hil when I come home with unfinished work.

The need to impart knowledge is what fuels my passion, causing me to have joy while I am doing those extras Ithat I do.

that guy's name is smart

I love my job, its my life and yes I also do find time to go out with friends and family during school holidays. This is a win!

This is my response to the first prompt posed by @galenkp in #weekendexperience community.
