Yesterday, Sunday, I had the opportunity to stay at home resting all day. Yes, all day. Between reading, naps and TV I had a great rest. How does that sound? Have you ever had a rest like mine?
I keep telling you that this day of vital rest for me I took the opportunity to watch several movies at random and the one I liked the most was The Journey of their Lives which caught me for its valuable content about life and emotions of the elderly.
It was a film that led me to reflect deeply. I identified with many (if not all) of the scenes. For us older adults, when we have led a life as a couple, there are emotions that become familiar to us and without a doubt, it got me.
El Viaje de sus Vidas tells the story of a couple who have been married for many years. She, a woman who is hopeless due to cancer, and he, destined to lose his memory. The couple has two children who give them all their support but in a certain way, she rejects them because she feels like a hindrance.
The protagonists of The Voyage of their Lives are She and John, played by Helen Mirren and Donald Sutherland. Both top-notch actors, realistic, expressing feelings and emotions as if they were really living it as a real couple.
I felt identified with Ella for her mettle, her courage and power of decision. Before she died she wanted to live and make her husband's dream come true, to visit the house of the writer Ernest Hemingwey. Yet, beyond that first intention, there was also the pleasure of doing something different in her life without having to ask permission or depend on anyone.
Sad are those moments when Ella does everything she can to keep her husband's memory alive. This woman is a woman of strength. In spite of her illness, she always shows herself ready for her husband and also for herself.
Ella represents a determined and moving woman, always holding on to her autonomy and her way of seeing life, without being overcome by fear or social prejudices. Her courage inspires and reminds us of the importance of living fully, authentically and without regrets.
The movie has a perfect balance between light moments and a background full of emotion and feeling. My intention is not to make spoilers, to tell you about it is to make a point so that you don't see it and you have to see it ha,ha,ha,ha.
Not everything in this film is drama, nothing to see, has very funny scenes and that allows the story to funny scenes and that allows the story to flow naturally. We laugh, we cry, we suffer and at the same time we are reminded of the depth of life, the shared memories and the challenges faced by both characters.

Ayer domingo tuve la oportunidad de quedarme en casa descansando todo el día. Sí, todo el día. Entre lecturas, siestas y televisión tuve un descanso genial. ¿Cómo les suena eso? ¿Han tenido descanso como el mio?
Les sigo comentando que este día de vital descanso para mi aproveché para ver varias películas al azar y la que más me gustó fue El Viaje de sus Vidas la cual me atrapó por su valiosos contenido sobre vida y emociones del adulto mayor.
Fue una película que me llevó a reflexionar profundamente. Me sentí identificada en muchas (por no decir todas) las escenas. Para nosotros, los adultos mayores, cuando hemos llevado una vida en pareja hay emociones que se nos hacen familiares y sin duda alguna, a mí me atrapó.
El Viaje de sus Vidas nos relata la historia de una pareja con muchos años de casados. Ella, una mujer desahuciada por el cáncer y él, destinado a perder la memoria. La pareja tiene dos hijos quienes les prestan todo su apoyo pero de cierta manera ella rechaza porque no quiere ser un estorbo en sus vidas.

Me sentí identificada con Ella por su temple, su valentía y poder de decisión. Antes de morir quiso vivir y hacer realidad el sueño de su esposo, visitar la casa del escritor Ernest Hemingwey. Aún así, más allá de esa primera intención, también estaba el placer de hacer algo diferente en su vida sin tener que pedir permiso ni depender de nadie.
Son tristes esos momentos cuando Ella hace todo lo posible por mantener viva la memoria de su esposo. Esa mujer se arma de fuerza. A pesar de su enfermedad, siempre se muestra dispuesta para su esposo y también para ella.
Ella representa a una mujer determinada y conmovedora, siempre aferrándose a su autonomía y a su forma de ver la vida, sin dejarse vencer por el miedo o prejuicios sociales. Su valentía inspira y nos recuerda la importancia de vivir plenamente, con autenticidad y sin remordimientos.
La película tiene un equilibrio perfecto entre momentos ligeros y un trasfondo lleno de emoción y sentimiento. Mi intención no es hacer spoiler, contarla es incidir para que no la vean y tiene que verla ja,ja,ja
No todo en este film es drama, nada que ver, tiene escenas muy
divertidas y eso permite que la historia fluya con naturalidad. Reímos, lloramos, sufrimos y al mismo tiempo nos recuerdan lo profundo de la vida, las memorias compartidas y los desafíos que enfrentan ambos personajes.
