A great day to everyone! Hello, my Hiver Friends!
I woke up earlier than usual today. My partner had already gone out to visit his sister and to buy some milkfish before coming back. There’s a market vendor that sells fresh milkfish at weekends so my partner also buys from him whenever possible. I noticed that we ran out of fresh soursop tea so I made some. When there are no avocado leaves or soursop leaves, we just drink plain warm water first thing in the morning.
I washed the soursop leaves and put them in a pan with water. It was then boiled until the leaves changed in color. When it was still warm, I drank a glass of freshly boiled soursop tea. My partner asked for these leaves from their neighbor when he visited his hometown.
I saw a recipe using rice flour so while waiting for my partner, I tried making it. Ingredients include the usual rice flour, coconut milk, sugar, etc… topped with cheese and salted eggs. I was hoping for good result but it didn’t turn out well as expected. The taste was fine but it had a pudding-like texture. Perhaps I should buy a different brand of rice flour next time. Anyway, we still ate it later that day and the following day as we didn’t want to waste it.
After lunch, we made chiffon baked in small oval pans. Thankfully, I succeeded in making the meringue and it had a nice rise and chiffon didn’t deflate much even after it had been cooled down. By the way, we sell desserts and some snacks within the neighborhood, we just post it in our community page then they send us a message if they want to buy. We do this so we can also utilize our free time while at home and can still earn even if it isn’t that much. Somehow, it can still cover some of our monthly bills. While making this, some neighbors also sent a message then I assisted my partner then I continued my task again. My partner delivers the order to neighbors' apartment unit.
The afternoon proceeded as usual with some house routine while catering to some orders of our neighbors. Normally, we sell until 10 in the evening if we are just at home and not too busy with other errands. However, that evening, we decided to go out and get some fresh air and take a leisure walk somewhere. Since I also needed some money to contribute to our weekly Sinking Fund, we decided to go to the mall to withdraw from the ATM and walk around a bit.
We didn’t go inside anymore as there were ATM machines by the entrance area. The mall area was about to close that time but restaurants outside were still open, so we could still go to the garden area. This is Ayala Mall in Cebu City, Philippines. I used to take my elderly mom here and we just walked around so she could get some exercise within an area that was also pleasing to her eye and just for an easy casual walk.
Mom left this world some years ago but every time I come to this area, I miss her because we used to come here together for a walk, for dining, and for grocery-shopping.
Some lights were already turned off, and we just walked around for about an hour until we decided to go home already feeling a little sleepy. The day went well with the usual routine, did some selling, went out for a bit to catch some fresh air and walk a bit. We just embraced every weekend with joy and gratefulness.
This concludes my sharing. Many thanks to @galenkp for this weekend experiences initiative. Thank you for your time and checking this post. Take Care!
