Not getting out of my comfort zone I watched this Danish miniseries of six chapters that is between the genre of crime and mystery but also talks a lot about class differences, immigration, as well as adolescence, use of social networks and sexuality. A conglomerate of things that I did not expect to find, as I have seen many series and movies of this type because I lean towards them when I’m looking for what to see, but in many cases I find them with deceptions that make you suspect everyone (I like that), in this case it was not so, from the beginning it was obvious to me who had been responsible for the disappearance and there were 5 chapters left to know why and know the whole story.

Sin salir de mi zona de confort vi esta miniserie danesa de seis capítulos que está entre el género del crimen y el misterio pero que también habla mucho de las diferencias de clase, la inmigración, así como de la adolescencia, el uso de las redes sociales y la sexualidad. Un conglomerado de cosas que no esperaba encontrar, ya que he visto muchas series y películas de este tipo porque me inclino por ellas cuando busco qué ver, pero en muchos casos las encuentro con engaños que te hacen sospechar de todos (eso me gusta), en este caso no fue así, desde el principio me resultó obvio quién había sido el responsable de la desaparición y faltaban 5 capítulos para saber por qué y conocer toda la historia.
In a residential area where families have at home an au pair, which is a person who makes a request to leave their country and work in a family’s home as a nanny and doing housework, with the supposed excuse of a cultural exchange but can also be seen as obtaining cheap labor by the host family, this contract is for two years in which they receive accommodation, maintenance and pay for their services, this pay is usually sent to help their families in their country. In history these au pairs are from the Philippines and in Denmark there is a large community of au pairs who during these two years are looking for a way to stay in the country after the end of the contract, either by marriage or entrepreneurship.
Well, Cecilie is a woman who welcomes Angel into her home with consideration and friendship, Angel works as an au pair taking care of the house and of Cecilie and Mike’s two children. A teenage boy named Viggo and a girl. The neighbors Katarina, Rasmus and their teenage son Oscar, live with Ruby, an au pair who from the beginning manifests to be unhappy with her host family.
One night, Ruby disappears without taking anything with her. Cecilie, worried about what might have happened to her, begins to investigate and speculate, also collaborating with agent Aicha, who is in charge of investigating Ruby’s disappearance.
En una zona residencial donde las familias tienen en casa una au pair, que es una persona que hace una solicitud para salir de su país y trabajar en casa de una familia como niñera y realizando labores domésticas, con la supuesta excusa de un intercambio cultural pero que también puede ser visto como la obtención de mano de obra barata por parte de la familia de acogida, este contrato es por dos años en los que reciben alojamiento, manutención y una paga por sus servicios, esta paga suele ser enviada para ayudar a sus familias en su país. En la historia estas au pairs son de Filipinas y en Dinamarca hay una gran comunidad de au pairs que durante estos dos años buscan la forma de quedarse en el país una vez finalizado el contrato, ya sea por matrimonio o emprendimiento.
Bueno, Cecilie es una mujer que acoge a Angel en su casa con consideración y amistad, Angel trabaja como au pair cuidando de la casa y de los dos hijos de Cecilie y Mike. Un adolescente llamado Viggo y una niña. Los vecinos Katarina, Rasmus y su hijo adolescente Oscar, viven con Ruby, una au pair que desde el principio manifiesta estar descontenta con su familia de acogida.
Una noche, Ruby desaparece sin llevarse nada. Cecilie, preocupada por lo que pueda haberle ocurrido, comienza a investigar y a especular, colaborando también con la agente Aicha, encargada de investigar la desaparición de Ruby.
During the investigation we can observe people who, due to their social status, believe they are better than others and are capable of underestimating the seriousness of the matter, to the point of minimizing the facts. There is also evidence of solidarity among the au pairs, who within their community carry out search days and provide support and unity for being immigrants from the same country, there is also evidence of the needs and reasons why they decide to move away from their family, finding themselves in a strange country without the necessary support, on the other hand there are people like Cecilie and Aicha who see everyone equally and will not rest until they find out what happened to Ruby. One of the important factors of the miniseries in addition to all of the above is the behavior of teenagers in social networks, their actions and the consequences of them.
As I said, it is not a series that takes you through several paths to confuse you, rather it gives clues little by little to the viewer, clues that only we see because those who investigate do not find out anything until the fifth and sixth chapter. It is a short miniseries with chapters of approximately 30 minutes, I watched it pretty fast, in one day and although it is a little slow, the diversity of the topics covered makes it interesting and easy to watch.
Durante la investigación se observan personas que por su condición social se creen mejores que los demás y son capaces de subestimar la gravedad del asunto, hasta el punto de minimizar los hechos. También se evidencia la solidaridad entre las au pairs, quienes dentro de su comunidad realizan jornadas de búsqueda y brindan apoyo y unidad por ser inmigrantes de un mismo país, también se evidencia las necesidades y razones por las cuales deciden alejarse de su familia, encontrándose en un país extraño sin el apoyo necesario, por otro lado existen personas como Cecilie y Aicha que ven a todos por igual y no descansarán hasta saber que pasó con Ruby. Uno de los factores importantes de la miniserie además de todo lo anterior es el comportamiento de los adolescentes en las redes sociales, sus acciones y las consecuencias de las mismas.
Como he dicho, no es una serie que te lleve por varios caminos para confundirte, más bien va dando pistas poco a poco al espectador, pistas que sólo vemos nosotros porque los que investigan no se enteran de nada hasta el quinto y sexto capítulo. Es una miniserie corta con capítulos de aproximadamente 30 minutos, yo la vi bastante rápido, en un día y aunque es un poco lenta, la diversidad de los temas tratados la hace interesante y fácil de ver.
