We recently travelled to Kadıköy. This trip will be the subject of today's post.
Actually we had no such intention. After we finished our work at the hospital, we went to Kadıköy beach and then to the Friday market. I took the first photos in the garden of Haydarpaşa Numune Hospital, it looks quite beautiful. Personally, I would feel better if I came here when I was sick.

Geçtiğimiz günlerde Kadıköy’e gitmiştik. Bugünki gönderimin konusunu bu gezi oluşturacak.
Aslında bizim böyle bir niyetimiz yoktu. Hastanede işimizi hallettikten sonra Kadıköy sahile ordan da cuma pazarına gittik. İlk fotoğrafları Haydarpaşa Numune Hastanesi’nin bahçesinde çekmiştim. Oldukça güzel görünüyor. Şahsen ben hasta olduğumda buraya gelsem kendimi daha iyi hissederim.
We took the municipality bus that passes right in front of the hospital and got off at the beach after 2-3 stops. I feel very good every time I come to this beach. I can put this place in second place after Üsküdar beach. Since it was early in the morning, the beach line was not very crowded. After taking a walk and breathing the sea air, we had breakfast with the view.
Hastahanenin hemen ön tarafından geçen belediye otobüsüne binip hemen 2-3 durak sonra sahilde indik. Bu sahile her geldiğimde kendimi çok iyi hissediyorum. Üsküdar sahilinden sonra burayı ikinci sıraya koyabilirim. Sabahın erken saatleri olduğu için sahil hattı çok kalabalık değildi. Biraz yürüyüş yapıp deniz havası aldıktan sonra manzara eşliğinde kahvaltı yaptık.
After breakfast we went to the pier where the ferries departed and watched the sea for a while. Doesn't it look beautiful? I could watch the sea here for hours. The sounds of seagulls looking for food on the quiet and calm sea, ships waiting in the harbour for departure, ferries and many more.
Kahvaltının ardından vapurların kalktığı iskeleye gittik ve bir süre denizi izledik. Çok güzel görünüyor değil mi? Saatlerce burada denizi izleyebilirim. Sessiz ve sakin denizin üstünde yiyecek arayan martı sesleri, hareket etmek için limanda bekleyen gemiler, vapurlar ve daha niceleri.
Are you ready to see one of the most beautiful libraries in the world? Yes, you didn't hear wrong. They built an architecturally very impressive library near the pier. I didn't take any photos in order not to distract the students studying inside the library and not to make noise. It was quite crowded inside. I am not a person who likes to study a lot, but with this view, I think I can stay at the book for hours. 😄
There was a small buffet inside the library and the prices were quite affordable.
Dünyanın en güzel kütüphanelerinden birini görmeye hazır mısınız? Evet yanlış duymadınız. İskelenin yakınlarına mimari olarak oldukça etkiyeci bir kütüphane yapmışlar. Kütüphanenin iç kısımda ders çalışan öğrencilerin dikkatini dağıtmamak ve ses çıkarmamak için fotoğraf çekmedim. İçerisi oldukça kalabalıktı. Ders çalışmayı çok seven birisi değilim ancak bu manzara eşliğinde sanırım saatlerce kitabın başında kalabilirim. 😄
Kütüphanenin içinde küçük bir büfe vardı ve fiyatları da oldukça uygundu.
After buying tea from the kiosk, we went to the terrace of the library where the main view was. I have been to Kadıköy coast many times before, but I regret that I realised this place too late. My house is not very close to this place, but I can come here even just to have tea on this terrace.
After spending about half an hour in the library, we went to the famous Friday bazaar in Kadıköy. We hadn't planned to go here, but I couldn't break my wife's heart because she was very keen. I'm glad I listened to her. You will understand better what I mean in the following minutes. 😄
Büfeden çay aldıktan sonra asıl manzaranın olduğu kütüphanenin teras kısmına geçtik. Kadıköy sahiline daha önce birçok kez geldim ancak burayı geç farkettiğim için açıkçası çok pişmanım. Evim buraya çok yakın değil ama sadece bu terasta çay içmeye bile gelebilirim. Kütüphanede yaklaşık yarım saat vakit geçirdikten sonra Kadıköy’deki meşhur Cuma pazarına gittik. Buraya gitmekte planımızda yoktu ancak eşim çok istekli olduğu için onu kıramadım. İyiki onu dinlemişim. İlerleyen dakikalarda ne demek istediğimi daha iyi anlayacaksanız. 😄
As soon as we entered the market, the curtain seller in the corner caught our attention. ‘The ones on the right are 300 and the ones on the left are 150’ he was advertising in a loud voice. Frankly speaking, I thought that m2 was these prices. When I asked him to satisfy my curiosity, he said that the quantity was the prices I said. It was really very suitable. I paid 450 Turkish liras for 3 curtains. I would like to point out that we checked the curtains to the finest detail and saw no problems.
Pazarın içine girer girmez köşedeki perdeci dikkatimizi çekti. “Sağdakiler 300 soldakiler 150” diye yüksek bir ses tonuyla reklam yapıyordu. Açıkçası ben m2’sinin bu fiyatlar olduğunu düşünmüştüm. Merakımı gidermek için sorduğumda adetinin söylediğim fiyatlar olduğunu söyledi. Gerçekten çok uygundu. Bir tane kendi evimize iki tane de anneme aldım. 3 adet perdeye 450 Türk lirası ödedim. Şunu da belirtmek istiyorum, perdeleri en ince detayına kadar kontrol ettik ve hiçbir sorun görmedik.
It was very crowded inside the bazaar, so we had difficulty walking. We even left the curtains in our hands where we bought them to buy them on our way back.
After walking around the upper floor, we went downstairs. I saw such prices that I really couldn't believe it. There were dresses that were almost half the price compared to different stores. I paid 400 Turkish Liras for 12 pieces of products. My wife also bought some things she liked.
Pazarın içerisi çok kalabalık olduğu için yürümekte zorlanıyorduk. Hatta elimizdeki perdeleri bile geri dönüşte almak üzere satın aldığımız yere bıraktık.
Üst katı dolaştıktan sonra alt kata indik. Öyle fiyatlar gördüm ki gerçekten inanamadım. Farklı mağazalara göre neredeyse yarı yarıya göre daha uygun elbiseler vardı. 12 parça ürüne 400 Türk Lirası ödedim. Eşim de beğendiği bazı şeyleri aldı.
Not only clothes and household goods are sold in the market. Glassware, shoes, slippers, ornaments, flowers, electronic goods, etc. There are many products. However, electronic goods are usually second hand. Therefore, I would not recommend too much. Likewise, there were many shopkeepers selling second-hand goods. For example shoes. Of course, these do not sound nice. We were not interested in these.
Pazarın içinde sadece elbise, ev eşyalara satılmıyor. Züccaye ürünleri, ayakkabı, terlik, süs eşyaları, çiçek, elektronik eşyalar vs. birçok ürün bulunuyor. Ancak elektronik eşyalar genellikle ikinci el. Dolayısıyla çok fazla tavsiye etmem. Aynı şekilde ikinci el eşya satan birçok esnafda vardı. Mesela ayakkabı. Tabi bunlar kulağa hiç hoş gelmiyor. Biz bunlarla ilgilenmedik.
Finally, we bought a carpet for the kitchen for 200 liras. Probably we would have paid at least 1000 liras if we bought it from a different store.
I think the biggest disadvantage of the market is that only cash is used as a payment method. I had withdrawn some money from the ATM on the beach because I predicted that we would encounter such a situation. We spent approximately 2000 liras with the souvenirs we bought for relatives. Of course, it was a little difficult for us to carry what we bought home.
If you come here, I recommend you to come with your private car. According to the information I got from the shopkeepers, the market is organised here on Sundays, Fridays and Tuesdays.
It is definitely one of the places to visit for those who live in Istanbul or those who come to visit. Even if you don't need anything, I am sure you will buy something if you walk around the market. 😄

Son olarak 200 Liraya mutfağa halı aldık. Muhtemelen farklı bir mağazadan alsak en az 1000 lira ödeyecektik.
Pazarın bence en büyük dezavantajı ödeme yöntemi olarak sadece nakit kullanılması. Böyle bir durumla karşılaşacağımızı tahmin ettiğim için sahilde ATM’den bir miktar para çekmiştim. Akrabalara aldığımız hediyelik eşyalarla birlikte yaklaşık olarak 2000 lira harcadık. Tabi aldıklarımızı eve taşımak bizim için biraz zor oldu.
Buraya gelecek olursanız özel arabanızla gelmenizi tavsiye ederim. Esnaftan edindiğim bilgiye göre burada Pazar, Cuma ve Salı günleri pazar kuruluyormuş.
İstanbul’da yaşayanlar ya da gezmeye gelenler için kesinlikle ziyaret edilmesi gereken yerlerden birisi. Hiç bir şeye ihtiyacınız yokken bile pazarı ayak üstü dolaşsanız eminim bir şeyler alırsınız. 😄
