The other day, I talked about how no one really cared about us and how we were all just the center of our own worlds. That is all true, and I still stand by that. But then, there’s only one time people take time out of being self-absorbed to pay anyone else any mind; and that’s when the person is dead.

One can be alive and well and the world will pretend they don’t exist. They’ll just be another spoke in the wheel and everyone will be going about their lives without even caring what happens to them. But all that will change the moment they die. Then, we begin to hear different stories of how they miss the deceased, how he refused to speak up, and how the world was unfair to them. It’s really cruel, you know? All that attention was needed when they were alive, but they only came at death.

A typical example of this is the Mohbad case. No one can ever say he didn’t speak out, because he spoke out multiple times. When he was going through his struggles, he made it known all over social media, but did people listen to him? No! Everyone knew what he was going through, but nobody cared because so long as it didn’t affect their lifestyle, then they were good.

However, upon his untimely death, everyone suddenly realized they could come up in arms and find vengeance. Even people who had never met him in their lives claimed to be haunted by him in their dreams as he cried for justice, influencers were suddenly homicide detectives and celebrities were even going coffin shopping with paparazzi trailing them. Everyone is milking the situation for what it can get them. And what was the prize? His life.

And you know the annoying thing? The videos and voice notes that keep coming up, all of them showing just how down Mohbad was, all of them showing how he was scared for his life. He had people around him, people who recorded these events, so they very well knew what was going on in his life. But they said nothing and they did nothing. He was surrounded by people but he was all alone in the world. And when he died, they started releasing the videos.

This is like administering the medicine after the patient is dead. The ones who are demanding justice now, if they had been this aggressive when he was alive, we might be having a different conversation today. Honestly, I just don’t understand. As far as I’m concerned, it’s not just the music industry that failed Mohbad. His colleagues failed him as well, his fans failed him as well, and the police failed him also. We all heard his pleas for help, but we ignored them all.

And now that he’s dead, people are talking about how it showed in his lyrics, how he cried in a video, or something else he said in a voice note. It’s just sad. Of what use is all this going to be to him? Nothing! No matter the sentiments attached to it, justice does not belong to the dead, it belongs to the living! It’s those who are alive who experience justice and it means nothing to those who are dead. Justice for this and justice for that, it won’t mean jack if you’re the one who is six feet under!

So, why am I saying all this? This should be an eye-opener for all of us. In as much as no one cares about you, no one is really noticing you or paying any attention, just know that everything is being recorded. If not digitally, then in the minds of those around you. Even the very people who you think hate you, they’re recording it all. They might know when your troubles will begin, but they’ll do nothing to help.

But then, when the tragedy occurs, they’ll flood the internet with “evidence”! They’ll talk about how close you were to them and how you’ll never make such a decision. The good times you all shared and how it changed their lives.

It’s tragic the contrast of value that we place on the dead compared to what we place on the living. A man has more friends when he’s dead than he will ever have when he’s living. People will refuse to pay his hospital bills to help him get better, but they’ll donate millions to give him a king’s burial. Yeah, imagine refusing a sick man 50k for hospital bills but choosing to donate 300k for his burial. It’s sick!

Omo… I have to stop here. This is already messing with my mind. I’m just saying that you should live your life according to your rules. Keep friends because they’re good to you and they help you grow in life just as much as you help them grow. Do not keep toxic people in your life. It’s not worth it living a life of pretense trying to impress people who don’t give a damn about you. Everyone is fake, and they’ll do whatever they can to look good in the eyes of others. Including having to step on others, dead or alive.

I really hope Mohbad finds peace, and I hope the police eventually get to the bottom of this case. I have to admit though that it’s the outcry of the fans that forced the police to get involved and launch the investigation. They did well for that. But then, I still believe that even Mohbad would have preferred to be alive and well than to be the center of a murder investigation.
