A great brawler and a good video game, better than I expected to be honest, River City Girls has been one of the free games on Epic this month and I can say that it is one of the best that the platform has given away this year, a title with personality, good gameplay and a lot of fun while we kick thugs to rescue our boyfriends.
$30 was its starting price, many more reasons to grab it for free while you can, it never hurts to expand that video game portfolio, especially if they have a style like this one that has reminded me a lot of the Scott Pilgrim multiverse, its video games and its HD style of humor. absurd
Nothing too crazy happens with the story, so I think we can skip it. This is the kind of game that only has it as an excuse to dare us to play. Its corridors, and I think it's best to see it this way: a Brawler that becomes difficult from the first level but has carefully crafted its controls to offer the player maximum flexibility. It's no use having good gameplay if I can't control the character well.
In this case, it's two schoolgirls who have to make their way to discover who has kidnapped their boyfriends. There's everything here, from fairly charismatic main characters to secondary characters that I wish were more involved or that I'd see a little more often. What I'm trying to say is that the world they create to make us care about these characters works quite well. alright
So they throw us onto the stage to throw punches, and it's not as easy as they make it seem. First, because the difficulty is fixed and we can't change it, and believe me, as we progress through the zones, it gets much more complex. So, we have to learn the controls and know how to use them on the ground. Otherwise, we'll be in trouble all the time.
I highlight blocking attacks because it's what will allow you to stay alive for at least another five minutes. Keep in mind that they're ambushing us by 5 players, and positioning and the way we punch are the main factors we'll need to be aware of if we want to get through. Enemies can also come with all kinds of surprises along the way, like weapons or special powers, so the gameplay is always well-mixed and entertaining.
We also have a two-player mode in case we want to add someone else to the party, but I'm telling you right now, if I'm willing to. To learn the controls, it's best to put it aside because, as I said, this game gets more complicated every time you pass a certain area or final boss.
Speaking of final bosses, they're more entertaining than What I thought, of course, being such a limited genre, we're going to sometimes run into the final boss archetype that we all know, the one where we have to read its movements and know how to hit it when it's exposed, but the game once again surprises us by knowing how to mix the moments of attack with the moments where we have to defend or stay away.
Or if you want to risk it, you can go and parry it because the fighting system is quite robust in this and gives you plenty of advantages to take advantage of. There's also an RPG system that I haven't taken much advantage of yet, but I think it's there to speed up our characters' stats and thus be able to hit it harder. terrain
Overall, I was pleasantly surprised, so much so that I've listed all the games I was playing at the time below to master the combat in this title. It's not easy at all, and if you're not too keen on this genre of video games, I suggest you skip it. But I do find it very interesting to see that Epic is giving away some hidden gems that I didn't even know existed.

Un gran brawler y un buen videojuego, mejor de lo que esperaba para serles sincero, River City Girls ha sido uno de los juegos gratis en epic este mes y puedo decir que es de lo mejor que ha regalado la plataforma durante este año, un titulo con personalidad, buena jugabilidad y mucha diversion por delante mientras pateamos matones para rescatar a nuestros novios.
30$ era su precio de salida, muchas mas razones para agarrarlo gratis mientras puedas, nunca esta demas agrandar esa cartera de videojuegos, sobretodo si tienen un estilo como este que me ha recordado mucho al multiverso de Scott Pilgrim, sus videojuegos y su estilo hde humor absurdo
Nada demasiado loco pasa con la historia asi que creo que podemos omitirla, este es ese estilo de juego que la tiene solo como excusa para que nos atrevamos a jugar en sus pasillos y creo que lo mejor es verlo asi, un Brawler que desde el primer nivel se torna dificil pero que ha cuidado sus controles para ofrecerle al jugador la mayor flexibilidad, de nada sirve que el gameplay sea bueno si no puedo controlar bien al personaje
En este caso son dos colegiadas que tienen que abrirse paso para descubrir quien ha secuestrado a sus novios, hay de todo aca, desde personajes principales bastante carismaticos hasta secundarios que quisiera que estuviesen mas involucrados o verlos un poco mas seguido, lo que trato de decir es que el mundo que crean para que nos interesemos por estos personajes funciona bastante bien
Asi que nos lanzan al escenario a repartir puños y no es tan facil como lo pintan, primero porque la dificultad esta fijada y no la podemos cambiar y creanme que a medida que pasamos las zonas se va poniendo mucho mas complejo, asi que nos toca si o si aprendernos los controles y saber usarlos sobre el terreno, sino de lo contrario estaremos en problemas todo el tiempo
Bloquear los ataques lo resalto porque es lo que te va a permitir seguir vivo al menos otros cinco minutos mas, piensa que nos tienden una emboscada de a 5 y el posicionamiento y la manera e la que damos los puños es la mayoria de lo que deberemos estar atentos si queremos pasar por ahi, tambien los enemigos pueden venir con todo tipo de sorpresas en el camino como armas o poderes especiales por lo que siempre la jugabilidad esta bien mezclada para entretener
Tambien tenemos un modo de dos jugadores por si queremos agregar a alguien mas a la fiesta, pero desde ya les digo que si o esta dispuesto a aprenderse los controles lo mejor es que lo apartes pues como ya dije este juego se hace mas complicado cada vez que pasas alguna zona o jefe final
Hablando de jefes finales, son mas entretenidos de lo que pensaba, por supuesto al ser un genero tan limitado vamos a toparnos a veces con el arquetipo de jefe final que todos sabemos, el que tenemos que leerle los movimientos y saberle dar cuando esta al descubierto pero el juego nuevamente sorprende sabiendo mezclar los momentos de atacar de los momentos en donde tenemos que defender o mantenernos alejados
O si te quieres arriesgar puedes ir y hacerle un parry porque el sistema de peleas es bastante robusto en esto y te da bastantes ventajas para que las aproveches, tambien hay un sistema RPG del cual aun no le saco mucho provecho pero creo que esta para agilizar las stats de nuestros personajes y asi poder pegar mas duro sobre el terreno
En general me ha sorprendido gratamente, al punto que he puesto abajo todos los juegos que estaba jugando por el momento para masterizar el combate en este titulo, no es para nada facil y si no te gustan demasiado este genero de videojuegos sugiero que no lo tomen pero en si me parece muy interesante ver que epic esta regalando algunas joyas ocultas que ni yo sabia que existian
