It’s a good thing I went on a photo-video walk yesterday while the weather was perfect. I say that because, just moments before I was about to head to my next spot, the weather suddenly changed from sunny to rainy! Lucky me. I did a rain check before going to the bus stop. I hadn’t planned on bringing an umbrella because the weather seemed fine at first, but then it changed so unexpectedly. This kind of unpredictability can be a bit frustrating, to be honest. But it is what it is, so I always try to make the most of the good weather for my photo walks.
As I mentioned in my snaps post yesterday, I went to Haji Lane for a photo and video walk!
Setting up a YouTube and TikTok account has motivated me to learn more about videography. That motivation has also encouraged me to practice my photography skills. This makes my trips to the city a much more worthwhile experience. I’m now creating a variety of content for different platforms, using different formats.
My photo walks are now reserved for my content here on Hive, while the short videos I make are meant for my mainstream social media accounts. I’m hoping that my content on mainstream platforms will gain some attention and support so that I can eventually monetize it in the future. However, I’m not really sure how much potential my efforts have there, as I’m mostly sharing content without much interaction. If my YouTube and TikTok accounts can grow organically, that would be great. But if they don’t, at least I’m learning how to take better videos along the way—so either way, it’s still a win for me! 😊
So, why Haji Lane?
On weekends, this spot is buzzing with visitors and crafters showcasing their creative products. The alleys transform into a marketplace where stall owners display their goods. Because of this, it attracts both locals and tourists, which I believe adds a nice touch to the videos I create.
And if I find something interesting to buy, I can also pick up a few things to bring home! 🙂
Overall, my photo and video walks have become a fun and meaningful way to explore the city while improving my creative skills. Whether my content gains traction or not, I’m enjoying the process and learning along the way. I’m excited to see where this journey takes me, and I’ll keep capturing moments one frame at a time! 😊
