Hello, friends especially foodies!
Last saturday, i went with my mommy to Bogor, a city in West Java. Not far from Jakarta, we went there by the electric train and when we arrived at the city. We straightly went to one of the culinary center there, Surya Kencana street.
There after had looked around in hungry condition and at that time most of the restaurants were dark (yeah, the electricity in that area was off that day) we finally found out a shaken noodle restaurant. In Indonesian, we called it mie kocok.
And the shaken noodle, originally came from Bandung, capital city in West Java. So it was a big surprise that we could find it in Bogor. Anyway, the restaurant looked bright eventhough the electricity was off and it looked clean too. Curious, we then stopped by to have our lunch there. And it was around lunch time, so we came there at the best time.
At the front, there was a man that sold roasted fishcake wrapped in banana leaves. It interested me much so then later i ordered a bit for us to try.
Well, uniquely they sold some cute lollipop, even the one in spongebob shape. The restaurant also sold some kind of manisan (fruits in sugar sweet water) in the jars.
The restaurant like i said, looked bright cause it had some window parts at their ceiling. The place was modest but really clean and neat. They painted the wall with white and green color. The furnish they had was modest too, but it looked neat in similar natural soft wooden color.
Simple, the menu they had in this restaurant were not many.
For the food menu, they only sold:
-
shaken noodle with the choice of beef part: meat, tripe, tendon, or gravel. You could only choose two kind of it.
-
special shaken noodle with all four parts of beef.
-
clear soto with those four kind part of beef too.
-
rib soup
-
chicken lomie
-
chicken laksa
-
chicken noodle
-
white rice
For the drink, they only:
- orange iced
- pala (nutmeg) iced
- mango iced
- aloe vera iced
- iced lemon tea
- milk soda
- milo iced
- sweetened iced tea
- warm sweet tea
- iced tea
- tea
- tea in bottle
- mineral water
- coffee
Simple, they also hung some photos of their food menu on their wall.
While waiting for our shaken noodle to come, we had the roasted fishcake. It served with the peanut paste.
Quite tasty, the fishcake had soft and a bit chewy texture. For the taste, it had sweet and savory flavour. While the peanut paste had savory, sweet and a bit spicy flavour. Not the best i've ever had, it was quite tasty affordable with the 6k IDR only price for each fishcake.
While we had them, our beverages came. Mom chose orange iced, while me, i tried one of the Bogor authentic, pala (nutmeg) iced.
They cut the nutmeg thin, it had crunchy soft texture with fresh tasty flavour of pala, the mint natural flavour, blended with sweet flavour. So fresh and authentic, this was unexpectedly the best pala iced i've ever had!
Next, our food was coming. While mommy chose the tripe and meat part.. i chose the tendon and meat part.
This was mine
And this was mommy's
Here was ours
Like you saw on the picture above, my bowl contained shaken noodle, beef meat, tendon, beansprout, celery and sliced leak.
The taste of the soup was only light savory, so we had to put on the salt ourselves, then chili paste and sweet soy sauce. Then it had complete flavour of savory, sweet, spicy and sour.
Home made, their noodle had light savory flavour with chewy soft texture. I didn't into it because i think it was so so.
But i must admit that they had good quality of ingredients, the meat cubes were soft and the tendon slices were soft and clean.
Overall, i liked their pala (nutmeg) iced and i would come back for the iced. While mommy said she liked the shaken noodle because it was tasty. So i think it's worth to try to have the shaken noodle because maybe you'll like it like mommy.
