What got me most was the friendship between Jane, Kat and Sutton💖 I found that unbreakable connection they have - even when they disagree - beautiful. They are always willing to listen to each other, guide each other, and empathetically embrace each other. I loved seeing how, even though they are pursuing their dreams, they also give each other permission to feel lost, confused, not having it all figured out. And that hit me hard, because sometimes we need to be reminded, that life is not just a checklist of accomplishments.
I am also very inspired by the passion with which they work. It's not just about doing what is expected, it's about leaving part of themselves in what they do, without losing their essence, even if the environment pressures them. As a writer, I saw myself reflected many times in that.
And I can't not talk about Jacqueline, I love her! She is the editor of the magazine where all the plot of the series takes place, and she represents everything I want to be as a functional adult: a self-confident, strong, empathetic woman, who drives her team without authoritarianism. She has a great emotional intelligence that we would like in times of crisis.
And also special mention to Richard, since, although romance is not the main thing in this series, he is one of the best romantic interests I have ever met in a series.
💄Lo que más amé💄
Lo que más me atrapó fue la amistad entre Jane, Kat y Sutton.💖 Esa conexión inquebrantable que tienen -incluso cuando no están de acuerdo- me pareció bellísima. Siempre están dispuestas a escucharse, guiarse y abrazarse con empatía. Me encantó ver cómo, a pesar de estar persiguiendo sus sueños, también se dan el permiso de sentirse perdidas, confundidas, sin tener todo resuelto. Y eso me pegó fuerte, porque a veces necesitamos que nos recuerden, que la vida no es solo una checklist de logros.
También me inspira mucho la pasión con la que trabajan. No es solo cumplir con lo que se espera, es dejar parte de sí mismas en lo que hacen, sin perder su esencia, aunque el entorno las presione. Como escritora, me vi reflejada muchas veces en eso.
Y no puedo no hablar de Jacqueline. ¡La amo! Es la editora de la revista en donde ocurre toda la trama de la serie, y representa todo lo que quiero ser como adulta funcional: una mujer segura de sí misma, fuerte, empática, que impulsa a su equipo sin autoritarismos. Tiene una gran inteligencia emocional que ya quisiéramos en momentos de crisis. Y también mención especial a Richard, dado que, aunque el romance no es lo principal en esta serie, él es uno de los mejores intereses románticos que he conocido en una serie.

Although The Bold Type has that cool magazine aesthetic and dreamy outfits, it doesn't just stay on the superficial. In fact, something that surprised me (and I really liked) is how it manages to get fundamental social issues in without forcing them or romanticizing them. They talk about feminism, racism, mental health, sexuality, desired motherhood, personal and professional identity, and more... but always from a human, empathetic and very real place.
The beauty is that they don't give lessons from a pedestal. They are girls making mistakes, learning, questioning. And that made me feel less alone with my own doubts. For example, watching one of them wonder if her dream is still her dream, or dealing with the guilt of prioritizing herself, made me think about how many times I've felt that way too.
In the end, it's a series that doesn't give you magic answers, but it does make you wonder various things. And that's worth a lot.

Aunque The Bold Type tiene esa estética de revista cool y outfits de ensueño, no se queda solo en lo superficial. De hecho, algo que me sorprendió (y me gustó muchísimo) es cómo logra meter temas sociales fundamentales sin forzarlos ni romantizarlos. Hablan de feminismo, racismo, salud mental, sexualidad, maternidad deseada, identidad personal y profesional, y más… pero siempre desde un lugar humano, empático y muy real.
Lo bonito es que no dan lecciones desde un pedestal. Son chicas cometiendo errores, aprendiendo, cuestionándose. Y eso me hizo sentir menos sola con mis propias dudas. Por ejemplo, ver una de ellas preguntarse si su sueño sigue siendo su sueño, o lidiar con la culpa de priorizarse, me hizo pensar en cuántas veces también me he sentido así.
Al final, es una serie que no te da respuestas mágicas, pero sí te hace preguntarte varias cosas. Y eso vale un montón.
