A student's performance is influenced by a multitude of factors which are family support, home environment, socioeconomic background, self-motivation, and so on. The blame can't solely be placed on the teacher. It's a multi-faceted issue that requires a more nuanced approach.

Most parents always blame the teachers for their irrelevant behavior and it should not be so, teachers are the ones who teach in school why do some parents fail to monitor their children at home, parents think that it is the teacher's responsibility to make their children improve in their studies.

Some parents can never put their children through their homework, they leave all responsibilities to the teachers, parents are now seeing the money they pay as the opportunity to frustrate the life of their children's teacher, the teacher needs to teach while parents need to monitor how their children are doing academically.

I remember when I was little, my mother taught me how to read seconds and minutes at home before going to school, I learned most things at home and this made it easy for me to catch up when the teacher was teaching everyone in class, I learned ahead of my teacher because my mother was a teacher as well but in another school, my mother will always check my notebooks and sit me down to tutor me on my homework, I have extra homework that I will do at home after the school homework, this was how my mother trained my siblings and I.

Laziness has taken over in this generation, parents always avoid their responsibility pushing them to the teachers in school, the blame for any child lagging should not be directed to the teacher alone but to the parents as well.

To the question of the prompt, the teacher should be blamed on one condition if it is all the children who are not catching up that means the teacher is not doing his or her job, but if it is a child then that means such child is the problem but I believe a teacher should know the kind of children he or she is dealing with.

As a teacher you can never neglect any child who is not catching up in your class, we have different types of children, we have slow learners while we have fast learners, and it takes more time for a child who is a slow learner to catch up, it takes gradual process to deal with such child, trying your best to make such child cope with others is your responsibility as a teacher but the parents has a lot to do.

Teachers and parents should work hand in hand, parents can always complain if their children are not performing well in school while teachers can complain as well if a child is lagging behind maybe due to much play at home or watching too much of movies, some parents do not know where and how to set boundaries for their children when it comes to watching of movies, some children can watch movies till the middle of the night without any fear of their parents.

The rate at which parents pack lunch boxes for their children in Nigeria is too alarming, children will eat as if their lives depend on it, I am not against packing food for your children but you should use the same energy in monitoring their school activities.

Parents should help the teacher in helping the children, some children will not attempt to do their homework and still have the boldness to take it back to school the next day, truly teachers are molding children but with the permission of their parents, without the parent's permission such thing will not be possible.

As parents, there is nothing bad in checking your children's notebooks and also visiting their schools to know how they perform both morally and academically, the teacher will only teach based on the curriculum but as parents, we must make sure they understand what they are been taught in school by asking questions from them and observe their performance. Parents should not relax and leave their responsibilities to the teachers alone to handle.

This is my entry to today's episode of hivelearners community prompt of #hl-w138e2 which the topic is tagged "THE TEACHER'S FAULT"
