I could have done a whole post about the cats of Monemvasia. They seem to be the absolute rulers of the town but, on the other hand, they tend to do that in every town, don't they?
Can you spot the cat of the first picture in the right picture below? They are always sitting on the most bizarre places, watching everything that goes on and everyone that passes by.
Eye witnesses, constantly alert!
It was just before Easter but the weather seemed winterish that day. Cold and windy. But it just added more charm to the, already captivating, old town. Anyway we didn't mind a bit cold weather. We knew that it would probably be the last of the season and there are a lot of warm and extra hot months ahead.
As we were walking with the company of our canine friend, the cats were more cautious than usual. Our dog, on the other hand, grew up in a house with many cats and he has learned to respect them.
Them, as well as their claws :)
But the cats don't know that!
The objective of this walk was to explore the lower part of the town and find the small opening of the walls, to the sea.
And of course we did :)
What an amazing spot. Exiting the fortification of the town and finding yourself by the sea! And even if we didn't have the opportunity to swim in the sea, we saw it in a way much more appropriate to a medieval castle and its history during the Dark Ages!
This is the forth part of our visit to the castle-town of Monemvasia at 8-10/4/2025.
The first post was:

and the third
And if you are not tired of it, there would be more :)
All the pictures and the words are mine.
