Normally I make walks in our neighborhood quite often, but in the past weeks I have been away for a week and I also have been going to to office frequently.
And as I do my neighborhood walks mostly during my lunch break it has been a while since I visited the local parks.
And that I hadn't been there for a while was noticable! Things have turned a lot greener since I visited the park last time. The forest floor was covered in wild garlic. You can really smell the strong scent when you walk through the park. I don't necessarily like the smell, but the view with the tiny white flowers is beautiful.
It was a nice and sunny day. Last time I went here I could still see the sky, but at the moment the park has a nice and green ceiling. This is why I really like to go here on hot summer days. The leaves keep the warmth away from the ground. We really need more trees in our urban environments. Especially because we will be getting more heat waves in the future.
There is a nice path going through the park. It isn't very big, but you can walk a couple of different routes.
Usually around noon its very nice and quiet.
In a more open space in the park there are a couple of nice big rhododendrons. I have a small one myself in our backyard which has white flowers, but these all have these purple/pink flowers. Really lovely.
And here are the flowers in close-up. You can clearly see the nice pattern on the leaves in this shot. There were quite a lot of bees humming around these bushes, collecting the nectar.
I know they have some bee hives somewhere in the corner of this park. I really need to find out if they make and sell the local honey too. That would be really cool.
There is also some water in the park. It's cool to play with the reflections. It looks like there are even more trees with their reflections in the water.
On my walk back home I came across this interesting tree. It's a white poplar, a tree that spreads 'seed fluff' in spring. It almost looks like it had been snowing.
I'm glad I don't suffer from hay fever, because that wouldn't have been fun during this walk.
I hope you enjoyed my #wednesdaywal (although it was on a Thursday).
