The weekend has started really well for me which is typical because any weekend is good as long as it fucken starts - it's when the weekend ends that I'm less happy. I've been pretty sick all week, the flu, and it's not been good at all so I'm hoping the weekend delivers much better results.
Anyway, this morning I was supposed to get my ass kicked at a game of squash with a mate whose really good at it but I used being sick as an excuse to avoid the slaughtering I knew I'd get. The guy used to play professionally and I never really get close to him but it improves my game and he's a good chap so I keep going back. So we didn't play today but had a catch up anyway and spent the morning re-living the good old days when we worked together doing stuff that most never get the chance to do.
The rest of the weekend is going to be good I hope.
I have some, end of financial year, stuff to do Saturday afternoon, a few documents to write for work, some firearms jobs (cleaning and lubrication) and am going to apply leather conditioner to some boots and belts to keep them in top shape - I know, it's not exciting but it must be done. Saturday will round out with chicken schnitzels and roast vegetables for dinner, a sneaky piece of cheesecake, coffee and movies.
Sunday, I'm off to the Art Gallery of South Australia for a wander about and will take a walk around the Botanic Gardens as well if I feel up to it, grab some lunch and spend time with my girl-human; The afternoon is chess, the rest of the cheesecake, coffee and a little later some soup and crusty home made sourdough bread for dinner then either reading on the couch and some music or some more episodes of the show we're currently watching. I'm hoping this flu fucks off as well.
It's not all that exciting I suppose, but I've got a busy time coming up at work meaning I'll be interstate multiple times in Western Australia, Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales and the operational tempo will be high so I'm making a point to spend quality time at home right now - the run into the end of the year is going to mean less time at home; it's exciting and all, but there's a price to pay.
