According to the Chinese calendar, today is the Mid Autumn Festival, also known as the Mooncake Festival, 🥮 in this festival, families gather together and share eating Mooncakes, and kids play with the Chinese lantern lighting, but there are also some fireworks in some designated areas only as fireworks is illegal in Hong Kong.
I saw on the news that the transportation works overnight last night because families usually go outside for gatherings and visit the parks where they can see lovely decorations for this festival and contemplate the full moon.
The mooncake is a traditional baked snack, and this snack is mainly consumed in this festival. I heard that for the pastry filling, used lotus seeds pastry, pig oil, sugar and salted egg yolk; this is the Cantonese style and is the best one, but nowadays, I have seen many other kinds of mooncakes filled with ice cream and many different flavours; also I have seen vegan styles, but definitely, my choice is the traditional one because I like the salted eggs yolk.
The most prominent Mid Autumn Festival decoration is in Victoria Park on Hong Kong Island, but it is crowded. I had seen on TV news how lovely the decorations for this festival were.
All the pictures I show here were in the Shatin district near where I live; the atmosphere is contagious because people like to play with Chinese lantern toys, especially kids, but this does not exclude adults.
