A new week you dear friends on Hive, glad to make it to another Needlework Monday.
I had one of the most hectic weekends as I had to overwork myself to get some promised dresses delivered to their owners, combining my studies,
Job and family chores haven't been easy, especially since it's currently an exam period for me, but somehow I manage to thrive through it all, and even just got out of the exam hall.
One of the dress I made belongs to a teenage friend at my local church, one I couldn't say no to as she had given me her fabric last Sunday after what seemed like a sad day for her, everyone had gotten the fabric needed for our youth's day event but she was yet to and felt bad about it.
Luckily for her, our youth's president volunteered to gift her the fabric while as the fashion designer in the midst it was my duty to do the making, a simple yet elegant dress, and that settled the situation. Her demeanour changed to a happy one, as she didn't feel left out anymore. So you see why I had to fit in her dress to my week's schedule no matter how tight the week was for me.
The day was marked as youth day in church and all the youth were to come dressed in the same ankara fabric, which made the day colourful,
I made a straight gown with puffy sleeves, another unique detail is the built-up V-neckline which gave the dress a very beautiful look. Without further ado, let's get right into the making process.

Cutting And Sewing Process
-
I started by cutting out the upper side of the dress, using a bustier pattern which gives the dress a perfect contour around the bust area
- I also cut out the down side if the dress using a straight skirt pattern, the front is not cut on fold because there is a slit at the front instead of the back.
-
Continuing, I joined the upper pattern pieces together and turned their sides and neckline in neatly using their lining pattern piece
-
Next, I joined the upper side of the dress to the lower part at the waist for both the front and back.
- I also sewed a zipper to the back of the dress.
-
Moving on, I joined the sides of the dress, now we are left with the sleeves.
-
I cut out a puffy straight sleeve, gathered the upper area, and joined the two sleeves to both armhole areas of the dress.
And that completes the making process of the dress.
She wore it beautifully to the youth's day event, I feel happy and relieved I was able to meet up, even though I'm stressed out right now, I know I will be fine.
