How are you all? I hope you are well and happy wherever you are. Recently, there have been lots of interesting promotions offered by several food and beverages companies, towards September and the end of the year which make everyone happy. In fact, being a discount hunter has been my job for the past few days.
Of course, hunter discounts are a good way to save money, besides getting delicious food of course. Moreover, as a fried chicken lover, it is an honor to get special promotions offered by several fast food restaurants, for example; A&W Restaurant.
A&W restaurant is a fast food fried chicken restaurant that I really like, the taste is very different from McDonald's or KFC. I think the taste of A&W restaurant is more varied and has a taste that is acceptable to Indonesians. Very different from the fried chicken sold by McD or KFC, A&W tastes more seasoned and absorbs more into the aging of the chicken than other fast food restaurants.
Apart from that, A&W offers different colas, unlike McDonald’s or KFC which use Coca Cola, but A&W Restaurant uses root beer or sarsaparilla which is very different. I don't know why, I prefer the drinks offered by A&W Restaurant because they taste more like soda. Long before Pepsi finally had to withdraw from the soft drink market in Indonesia. Yes, previously McDonald’s or KFC used Pepsi as a fizzy drink.
If I talk about American-style food, I see a lot of differences in service that occurs when ordering food from an Indonesian restaurant versus an American restaurant. In Indonesia, what happens is that when ordering food, you have to pay at the end and be given service at the beginning. Your food will even be delivered to your table directly. At that time I thought about how inefficient restaurants are that don't self-service, even though the price is the same.
In contrast to American restaurants which prioritize payment in advance and self-service, everything can be done more quickly and efficiently, where food like this must be prepared quickly and easily. You even have to throw away your own food waste. That's what makes me prefer eating at American restaurants. If only Padang restaurant did it and it would be so easy to have lunch.
Everything happens because of habit and culture, there is no reason why this happens. The culture in Indonesia is 'the consumer is king, so all services must be provided by the company to make a profit', where Indonesian people prefer food served directly to the table where they are. It is also different from American culture and other countries.
Maybe that's what happens when the bill comes at payment, you shouldn't be surprised to see a bill with service tax if you eat at an Indonesian restaurant. In exchange for this service, you have to pay more for the service, but not all restaurants do that.
