The reason was to enjoy and celebrate Miranda's grandmother's life, since the sixth was her birthday.
But beyond all that I mentioned and it sounds great and idyllic, there is something else that happened and made us closer.
She was going through a difficult time in her marriage and at the same time I was trying to forget and overcome mine, Loving hurt us at the same time, and in the company of a few beers on the way, tears rolled down her cheeks and I listened to her attentively, with empathy, with pain in my chest because I understood her perfectly and she understood me.
I could admire the integrity with which she handled the situation and each of the decisions she made throughout this process.
Being more than her granddaughter's mother in this specific trip and keeping us company at this moment marked a before and after in our relationship, it was not bad, it has always been good, but in the end we learned to love each other as friends and feel more like family even when my relationship with her son was over.
We cried, we laughed, of course we sang happy birthday and we all returned home refreshed. As if we were relieved a little of the pain that left the grief in that river.
