Hello, it's me Jadeney, a guy who has curly hair, 5'5" in height, not too thin, just right, and of course, a moreno guy. My nickname at home is Kinkin.
I am a senior high school student at Tabogon Roosevelt High School. It's not too far from our place, which is very convenient because the travel time isn't that long.
Why I decided to write a blog:
Honestly, I'm not really that good at writing because my vocabulary when it comes to English isn't very broad. Our mother tongue here is Cebuano. But growing up, starting in my high school days, I really started to practice and learn how to better my English skills. I started with terms, reading books, watching movies with English as the language, and also started speaking and writing in English. I know it really takes time to master something, and I am dedicated to learning.
It was because my older sisters, itsmemic and iamlvelykate, mentioned the Hive platform that I got curious and wanted to join too. My life has been an exciting adventure because I can learn and expand my knowledge and write a blog to express my feelings. Inspired by my sisters, I was really convinced to try, so here I am, sharing my journey with all of you.
So, I guess I might as well start sharing with you my personal background.
My Studies
I am taking the strand of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, or as it's known, STEM. One of the reasons why I chose this strand is because I want to become an engineer in the near future, and this strand will go with my future course. When I told my parents about my dream job, they seriously gave their full support. And to tell you, last semester I was an honor student. My support system, which is my family, helped me to have high grades. I was really motivated to study.
My hobbies
I am a very athletic person. I don't like just staying put and hanging out all day. I love dancing and playing basketball because I saw this in my uncles, who are my mother's siblings. They are really sporty, and I was inspired to play too.
Aside from basketball, I am also an athlete in our school for volleyball. Back when I was in junior high school, I only liked basketball, but when I was in senior high school, one of our volleyball coaches told me, "Kinkin, join volleyball because I really see the potential in you." So, without hesitation, I joined the volleyball training and even made it to the provincial meet.
Being an athlete student, I was able to balance it with my studies. I didn't just focus on one; I still balanced both. Because still, knowledge is power.
The good thing about being an athlete student is that I was able to do some exercises and even play with my friends during vacant time. Even after class, as long as we didn't have schoolwork, we would play here at school. It was just for fun, and it indeed made our bonding stronger.
Challenges that I faced in my studies
During elementary school days, I was really not fond of talking with other people since I considered myself to be extremely shy. Even sharing my opinions in the classroom and when asked by the teacher, I would really hesitate to voice out or give answers because I was afraid of being wrong or being judged for wrong grammar.
Also, one of my insecurities before was my penmanship because some words were really unreadable, even I myself would have a hard time understanding what I wrote after writing it. And when I would see the papers and handwritten works of my classmates, I would really be amazed.
When I reached my high school days, that's when I used my insecurities as my driving force. I turned them into inspiration to keep going because I knew I could do it. If they could do it, so could I. That's why now, after a lot of practice in writing and improving my penmanship, it's already much better.
Also, when it comes to socializing, I blossomed in high school and was even able to participate in school contests. My goal was really to learn a lot, and if I happened to fail, I would probably take that failure as my lesson and will do better next time. Because as they say, experience is the best teacher.
Discovery
There are times when I noticed myself watching motivational videos and even trying to do self-reflection on where I went wrong and what my better move would be next time to correct my mistakes. And here I discovered writing mini-diaries and using the English language, which also helps me practice speaking English fluently. And now I am here on Hive. Yaaaay! I'm excited to share with you my life adventures, life lessons, and even my experiences in sports and dancing contests. I will also share about our family hangouts and adventures together.
Before I end this post, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Ma’am Jeann for onboarding me here on Hive and for patiently answering all our questions about blogging.
Also, to my sisters, itsmemic and iamlovelykate, thank you so much for never getting tired of explaining to me what Hive is all about.
