Justamente entre ayer y hoy a nivel mundial se está estrenando en cines la segunda parte de este gran clásico, uno que para serles sincero no había tenido la oportunidad de ver. Buscando opciones en los cines me di cuenta que ya estaba en cartelera esta segunda parte por lo que decido buscar a su predecesora para ponerme al día. Siempre se ha pensado que Ben Affleck no es buen actor, la gente repite eso como loros; personalmente no creo que sea el caso, puede que haya estado en malas películas pero a él no lo considero malo en su trabajo. Este personaje, Christian Wolff, es uno bastante complicado de interpretar y con el cual tengo una "cercanía" especial.
Just between yesterday and today the second part of this great classic is being released in theaters worldwide, one that to be honest I had not had the opportunity to see. Looking for options in theaters I realized that this second part was already in theaters so I decided to look for its predecessor to catch up. It has always been thought that Ben Affleck is not a good actor, people repeat that like parrots; personally I don't think that's the case, he may have been in bad movies but I don't consider him bad at his job. This character, Christian Wolff, is a rather complicated one to play and with whom I have a special “closeness”.
Christian es un contador y un genio matemático al mismo tiempo, tiene una mente privilegiada. Esto es porque él es una persona neurodivergente, está dentro del espectro autista lo que lo hace alguien muy particular en su día a día. Pero por si no fuera poco lleva una especie de doble vida en donde se dedica a llevarles las cuentas a los criminales y organizaciones más peligrosas del mundo. El ser tan ordenado, meticuloso y obsesivo lo ha llevado a ser altamente eficiente, recordemos que las personas autistas tienen características y formas de comportamiento muy peculiares. Todo le va bien hasta que el departamento del Tesoro de Estados Unidos decide ir tras él y desenmascararlo.

This is because he is a neurodivergent person, he is on the autistic spectrum which makes him very particular in his day to day life. But if that wasn't enough, he leads a kind of double life where he is dedicated to keeping the accounts of the most dangerous criminals and organizations in the world. Being so orderly, meticulous and obsessive has led him to be highly efficient, remember that autistic people have very peculiar characteristics and ways of behaving. Everything is going well for him until the U.S. Treasury Department decides to go after him and unmask him.
Por la forma en cómo fue criado (papa miliar) este tipo se convirtió en una máquina de matar. Al tener la condición que posee su padre no quería que nadie se aprovechara de él por lo que le enseñó muchas cosas para que sepa defenderse. La trama básicamente es él siendo contratado por una empresa legal para que ponga orden en los números pero esta al darse cuenta de ciertas incongruencias decide ir tras nuestro contador sin saber el error que estaban cometiendo. En lo personal el film me parece increíble, es una especie de thriller conspirativo en donde vemos mucha acción, disparos, artes marciales y un drama teniendo en cuenta todo lo que Wolff vivió en su infancia/adolescencia.

Otra cosa que llama la atención es su elenco plagado de grandes actores. Anna Kendrick, Jon Bernthal, J.K. Simmons, John Lithgow, etc. Todos ellos siendo protagonistas y haciendo muy buenas actuaciones. Como ya dije el papel que hace Affleck es brutal ya que tiene que demostrar mucha destreza a la hora del combate cuerpo a cuerpo y manejo de armas, que se sabe que la tiene, al mismo tiempo que meterse en la personalidad de una persona autista. Cuando comenté lo de la "cercanía personal" me refería a que tengo un primo con Asperger y se perfectamente de lo que son capaces estas personas, se como actuan, como controlarlos, sus manías, sus "obsesiones" por lo que la forma en como lo plasman en este film es muy fiel y realista, lo hacen con mucho respeto y precisión para que se entienda que ellos no son un problema.
Another thing that stands out is its cast full of great actors. Anna Kendrick, Jon Bernthal, J.K. Simmons, John Lithgow, etc. All of them starring and giving very good performances. As I said, Affleck's role is brutal as he has to show a lot of skill when it comes to hand-to-hand combat and weapons handling, which he is known to have, while at the same time getting into the personality of an autistic person. When I commented on the “personal closeness” I meant that I have a cousin with Asperger's and I know perfectly what these people are capable of, I know how they act, how to control them, their manias, their “obsessions” so the way they capture it in this film is very faithful and realistic, they do it with great respect and precision so that it is understood that they are not a problem.
En fin, esta es una película en donde los plot twist están a la orden del día. Me sorprendió mucho la cantidad de cosas que hay "debajo de la alfombra" y que con el pasar de la trama se fueron descubriendo. Esto es de lo que más me gusta porque la impredecibilidad siempre la voy a ver con buenos ojos además de que aporta mucha profundidad al film. Gran clásico, no se como no lo había visto antes o capaz si pero genuinamente no lo recuerdo. Puedo entender porque le hicieron una segunda parte, no queda del todo abierta pero si son personajes a los que se les puede sacar más y sobre todo al trasfondo de ellos y lo que hacen. A este le doy un 7.5/10. No me pareció aburrida, puede que por momentos haya sido un tanto predecible pero las escenas de acción y el elenco compensa todo eso. Dura poco más de dos horas. LEs dejo el tráiler por acá abajo.
Anyway, this is a movie where plot twists are the order of the day. I was very surprised by the amount of things that are “under the carpet” and that were discovered as the plot unfolds. This is what I like the most because the unpredictability will always be seen with good eyes and it adds a lot of depth to the film. Great classic, I don't know how I hadn't seen it before or maybe I had but I genuinely don't remember it. I can understand why they did a sequel, it's not entirely open but they are characters that you can get more out of and especially the background of them and what they do. I give this one a 7.5/10. I didn't find it boring, it may have been a bit predictable at times but the action scenes and the cast makes up for all that. It lasts a little over two hours. I leave you the trailer below.
