Howdy, fellow Splinterlanders and Splintercurious... How is the game going for you? I haven't posted about Splinterlands for a while because every community engagement challenge for the past month has been the same thing over and over again: the launch of the new card set. I was happy to do a post or two about it, but after a month, I ran out of ideas of what to talk about.

I'm getting wrecked in the Modern League since the Chaos Legion cards retired to the wild. I don't know which Archon to choose, and I am also completely clueless as to what the current META is these days. I can't afford to get my Archons to MAX level, so I've settled for getting all the Common Rebellion Archon splinters to level 4 and just rent a MAX-level Dragon Archon to take full advantage of my MAX-level Rebellion Reward cards.

For this season, I'm renting this badass-looking Dragon Archon called Sheng Xiao. He looks cool as hell and lets you give a poison attack tactic to two of your units. I'm not used to tactic cards, so I accidentally granted the poisonous attack to my enemy a few times by accident, but it didn't matter because I was only using MAX-level cards while they were mostly level 3s. I'm creeping my way back to the Diamond League with Sheng Xiao and pretty much win every battle as long as the Dragon Archon is allowed, otherwise, I'll just try to scrape by with my level 4 and level 3 cards with my owned summoners. I don't want to put hundreds of dollars into getting MAX-level Rebellion Archons because they won't be playable in the Modern League in less than a year, so I'll probably just keep renting Dragon Archons as they can summon any splinter. It's too bad Dragon isn't always an option because I would be winning a lot more of my Modern battles with Sheng Xiao.

Campaign Mode

Have you gone through the new Campaign Mode yet? If you're an OG player like me, it won't make much of a difference to your card collection, but then again, maybe it will, because it's great for new players, and the whole new player experience is something we've kinda neglected since the beginning of the game's launch and lots of new players will have a positive effect on all of our cards' prices. Not everyone likes or uses Discord, and even if they do, they have to be prepared for short, somewhat passive-aggressive answers to their genuine questions, so I am very happy to see Campaign Mode come along and hopefully turn a lot more looky-loos into serious long-term players.

Foundations

It's nice to see some structured game-play instructions for new players now available on Splinterlands. When you start Campaign Mode, you'll see some great art and a few stories as well as some rules about how Splinterlands gameplay works. After you've gone through the instructions, you'll get the chance to battle, making sure you understand what was taught. If you win the battle, you'll be awarded a little bit of Glint and some Foundations cards. The cards are pretty basic. They're not like the Gladius Reward cards, where one card can completely turn the tide of a battle, but they'll come in handy to any new players. I doubt I'll be using any of these cards, but they do look pretty. Thanks for reading about my Splinterjourney today. What about you? Have any of you been able to use Campaign Mode to better explain and or recruit your friends and family into the game?
