Splinterlands is a pretty complicated game with interesting battles with all the options available. This is a part of the weekly social media challenge for Splinterlands. This week is about a great fight where I won because I used Thraghun and Arachne Weaver.
Featured cards
Thraghun is a death splinter that costs 9 mana. This splinter starts with both ranged and melee attack. It starts with reach and cripple. It learns return fire at level 2, weaken at level 4, and poison at level 8. This is a great backup tank, and I think that have the duo attack plus reach already makes it quite powerful at level 1.
Arachne Weaver is a death splinter that costs 5 mana. This splinter starts with corrupted healing. It learns [scavenger() at level 3 and poison at level 6. This is a great support card because it can keep the monsters in your lineup alive. Sure, they might lose 1 max health, but that heal can be the difference between a win or loss.
Rule set, Battle and Plan
The ruleset this time is Odd Ones Out. This means that only odd mana monsters can be used. There are also 39 mana available, and I can choose life, death, or dragon splinter.
Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
---|---|---|---|
Zeddica | 3 | Summoner | |
Mantaroth | 11 | 1st | Shield and Armored Strike |
Thraghun | 9 | 2nd | Reach and Cripple |
Chaos Jailer | 5 | 3rd | Ambush, Opportunity, and Poison |
Arachne Weaver | 5 | 4th | Corrupted Healing |
Broken Earth Thug | 3 | 5th | Opportunity |
Fenmoor Haunt | 3 | 6th | Sneak |
Total Mana: | 39 |
I use Zeddica as my summoner because it is a higher level. In my first spot is Mantarothm as my tank with shield and armored strike. After that is Thraghun as my backup tank and damage dealer. Chaos Jailer is my 3rd monster with ambush, opportunity, and poison. Arachne Weaver is my 4th monster as support. Broken Earth Thug is my 5th monster with opportunity. My last monster is Fenmoor Haunt with sneak.
My goal is to survive as long as possible with Mantaroth while the rest of my lineup deals damage. By keeping Mantaroth alive, Thraghun can also get an extra 1 ranged damage per turn. Arachne Weaver is there to heal Mantaroth. My other 3 monsters in the back are all sneak or opportunity monsters. They are there to focus down my opponent's backline.
Round 1
At first glance, I think that I have the advantage. There is no way for my opponent to take out Mantaroth fast, but the only concern is all the opportunity monsters. It will depend on what happens, but I still think that I have the advantage.
Round 2
My opponent lost 2 monsters while I lost 1. However, my lineup is fairly healthy. I don't think there is any way for me to lose because my tank will survive, and the rest of my damage dealers are still quite strong.
I ended up winning this match a few rounds later, as I expected.
Conclusion
The battle this time played out how I wanted it to. Thraghun was able to deal damage without any issues in the 2nd spot. Even though it is only a rare card, I see it being a very good monster to add to my lineup if I have the mana available. Mantaroth did a great job of tanking hits, and Arachne Weaver healed it up quite nicely, so there was no real danger to me in this fight. Synzergizing cards together can help you quite a bit in making a decent lineup.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
