Under the sun of Havana, alongside the sound of the cars and the rhythm of the city that never ceases, there exists a corner that resists the change of the urban life and its accelerated pace, The Metropolitan Park, located almost on the border between two municipalities, this green space is a piece of the ancient natural forest that existed in this part of the country, currently known as 'Havana Forest,' a haven where nature refuses to disappear.

Currently, in a large area of this site lies the Metropolitan Park, an ideal space to enjoy a relaxed time with friends or family. The center of the park is crossed by the Almendares River, which divides the place into two banks. Over it, a bridge was once built, with the purpose of connecting by land the capital municipalities of Plaza and Playa.

Here the air feels different, and the climate becomes cooler under the shade of the many trees around. One of the best places to stop is by the stone benches near the river, the undisputed symbol of the city. Although today its waters do not sparkle as they once did and in some sections suffer the effects of pollution, the river is still the most recognisable thing about the place, flowing through the vegetation as a continuous reminder of what it once was, a clean and lively flow.

In this park, in addition to the abundant vegetation and the peace that is enjoyed, there are also diverse cafeterias and food establishments, always with options to get refreshed during the hottest moments of the day. There is also an amusement park where children get entertained and always have a very entertaining time.

Bajo el sol de La Habana, junto al ruido de los autos y del ritmo de la ciudad que no cesa, existe un rincón que se resiste al cambio de la urbe y su vida acelerada, El Parque Metropolitano, ubicado casi en la frontera entre dos municipios, este espacio verde es un pedazo del antiguo bosque natural que existia en esta parte del pais, conocido actualmente como "Bosque de La Habana", un remanso donde la naturaleza se niega a desaparecer.

Actualmente en una gran área de este sitio se encuentra el Parque Metropolitano, un espacio ideal para disfrutar de un rato relajado entre amistades o en familia. El centro del parque está atravesado por el rio Almendares, que divide el lugar en dos márgenes. Sobre él se construyó en otro tiempo un puente, con la función de enlazar por tierra a los municipios capitalinos de Plaza y Playa.

Aquí el aire se siente diferente, y el clima se vuelve más fresco bajo la sombra de los muchos árboles que se encuentran por los alrededores. Uno de los mejores lugares para detenerse es junto a los bancos de piedra cercanos al río, símbolo indiscutible de la ciudad. Aunque hoy sus aguas no brillen como en otro tiempo y en algunos tramos sufran los efectos de la contaminación, el río sigue siendo lo más reconocido del lugar, fluyendo entre la vegetación como un continuo recordatorio lo que una vez fué, un caudal limpio y lleno de vida.

Desde la baranda del puente se divisa la extensión del Almendares en su curso tranquilo. Es un contraste encantador, por una parte, la Habana moderna y por otra la naturaleza conviviendo en armonía, compartiendo un mismo espacio.

En este parque además de la abundante vegetación y la paz que se disfruta hay también diversas cafeterías y establecimientos gastronómicos, siempre con opciones para refrescarse en los momentos más calurosos del día. Hay también un parque de diversiones donde los niños se entretienen y pasan siempre un momento muy entretenido.

El Parque Metropolitano es más que un área verde es un recordatorio de que incluso en una gran ciudad la naturaleza puede integrarse perfectamente sumando belleza y armonía. Este es un sitio para adentrarse, respirar hondo y recordar que aún bajo el cemento, en La Habana también late un corazón verde .
