My Vision of Sesame Street
I created this digital mixed-media style artwork the other day. The title is "My Vision of Sesame Street." First, I generated the image of Sesame Street-like characters, which turned out pretty funny and cool. Then, I drew parts of the background, added digital background images, and inserted many other digital elements. It's such a psychedelic piece, I think it captures exactly how I imagine Sesame Street.
Sesame Street is a wonderful educational kids' TV program that includes workshops, anime-style segments, puppet shows, comedy, stories, and drama. It started in 1969! I love the classic versions, which I used to watch on Japanese national TV. I don’t remember exactly when it was broadcast in Japan, but I’ll never forget how much I enjoyed watching it.
The show was super cool, gentle, funny, funky, calm, and interesting. I learned a lot of English through it. The puppets and the handmade crafts were especially fascinating. I even had some Sesame Street merchandise and books when I was a kid. My favourite characters were Cookie Monster, Big Bird, and Bert. Bert actually looked like my father, and I really liked his outfit. I also had a Big Bird desk lamp that was very colourful and cool.
Now, let me explain the details of my artwork below.
In the center of the piece are the Sesame Street-style characters. I added a big cookie with colourful chocolate chips to represent the moon in the sky. Even though it’s a night scene, there’s a rainbow I drew across the sky. I also included digital images of UFOs, flowers, colourful birds, jellyfish, goldfish, and the planet Saturn. I wanted to express a non-judgmental time and space.
In the actual Sesame Street setting, the buildings look modern, but in my version, they have an antique, colourful, eco-cob style. I colored them in many shades and added digital images of streetlights and a hanging Converse shoe, an iconic symbol of downtown life. I also included digital graffiti on the walls with messages like “NO WAR” and “RESPECT,” personal messages from me.
There’s no Oscar the Grouch in the garbage bin, but I included a bin for him and colored it purple. On the edge of downtown, there’s some yummy-looking garbage on the street. Next to it is a little mouse holding a delicious-looking slice of pizza. Elmo doesn’t appear either, but there’s an Elmo-like red character eating a blue Hawaiian ice cream. Cookie Monster isn’t there exactly, but there’s a Cookie Monster-like man standing next to the street sign and light pole. I also added my artist name to the street sign plate.
I don’t think there was a river in the original show, but I added a peaceful river running through the middle of the city, with two flamingos. They are a couple, standing in the water.
Back up in the sky, there’s a haunted-house-style building where Count von Count lives. There are some bats flying nearby, and the reddish one is him. I always enjoyed his scenes where he counted numbers.
Can you hear the theme song? like, “Sunny day, sweepin’ the clouds away, On my way to where the air is sweet, Can you tell me how to get, How to get to Sesame Street?” ♪♪

わたしのセサミストリートのビジョン
先日、このミクストメディア・スタイルのアートを作りました。タイトルは「わたしのセサミストリートのビジョン」です。まずは、セサミストリートのキャラクター風の画像をAIで作成しました。かなりおもしろい見た目のキャラクターたちができあがりました。それから、背景の一部分をデジタルの手書きで描き、いくつかのデジタル画像を入れました。さらに、あらゆるデジタル画像を埋め込みました。本物ののセサミストリートからも感じていた、サイケデリックな 雰囲気のアートができあがったと思います。
セサミストリートはとても素晴らしい子供の教育テレビで、ワークショップ、アニメ風のセグメント、人形劇、コメディーやドラマなどが織り交ぜられています。なんと１９６９年にスタートしたらしいです。昔、NHKで観ることができた、かなり古いバージョンのセサミストリートが好きでした。日本での放送について詳しい歴史は覚えていませんが、その頃に観たインパクトは今でも忘れません。
内容はとてもかっこよく、優しく、おもしろくて、ファンキーで、落ち着きがあって興味深かったです。英語が楽しく学べました。人形劇と手作りの工作などが特に好きでした。昔は、キャラクターグッズ的なものや本を集めるのが楽しかったです、わたしの好きだったキャラクターは、クッキーモンスター、ビックバードとバートでした。バートは父にどことなく似ていました。着ている服の色合いが好きでした。
さて、そろそろアートの詳細を説明します。
アートの中心にはセサミストリート風のキャラクターたちがいます。月に見立てて、色つきのチョコレートチップクッキーがたっぷり入ったクッキーを空に浮かべました。夜のシーンなのにも関わらず、空には虹が浮かんでいます。虹は手書きで描きました。UFOの画像、花、カラフルな鳥たち、土星の画像を加えました。偏見のない時空と空間を作り出したかったのです。
本物のセサミストリートの建物はモダンなので、わたしのビジョンとは少し違います。こちらはアンティーク風な建物で、昔風のエコなコブスタイルの作りにしてあります。いろいろな色合にしました。それからよく街で見かける電線にコンバースが片方だけぶら下がっている様子も入れ込みました。「ノーワー」「リスペクト」などのメッセージ性のあるグラフィティーの画像も建物の壁に入れ込みました。
ゴミ箱に入っているオスカーはいませんが、オスカー風のゴミ箱を置いて、紫色に塗りました。街の外れには、おいしそうなゴミが道に落ちています。その横には小さなネズミがこれまたおいしそうなピザを一切れ持っています。エルモもいませんが、エルモっぽい赤いキャラクターが、ブルーハワイ味のソフトクリームを食べています。クッキーモンスターもいませんが、クッキーモンスター風の青いキャラクターが街灯と道の看板の横に立っています。看板には自分のサインを入れました。
本物のセサミストリートに川が登場するかどうかは思い出せませんが、この街の真ん中には川があります。その川の中には仲良しのフラミンゴのカップルが立っています。
ふたたび空の方に戻ると、そこにはカウント伯爵 の住むお城があります。お城の周りを飛んでいるコウモリの先頭にいる赤いコウモリが伯爵です。カウント伯爵の数字のシーンを見るのが好きでした。
セサミストリートのテーマソングが聞こえてくる感じがしますか？

公式の日本語訳があるのかどうかはわからないので、自分で考えてみたのですが、歌のリズムに語呂を合わせるのは難しいです。わたしにはテーマ曲が聞こえてくる気がします。
