Eid brings a tradition of togetherness, where we gather, greet one another, and share joy. Our community celebrates with warmth, exchanging smiles and enjoying delicious snacks, strengthening bonds of love, unity, and happiness on this special day.

This tradition comes from our ancestors, where Islamic values in Indonesia assimilate with local wisdom, forming a unique culture. This blend creates a harmonious way of celebrating Eid, reflecting both religious devotion and local traditions.

Lontong, rice cooked in coconut leaves or plastic, and opor ayam, chicken simmered in rich coconut milk, are signature dishes of the Eid season.

We also prepare traditional dried snacks like biji katapang, a sweet treat made from coconut and wheat flour. These snacks are served to guests. Some people return to their hometowns, but I am not this year due to the expensive travel costs.

I attend the morning prayer with my family, starting at 7 and ending at 8. After that, I return home and greet my neighbors, sharing the joy of Eid and strengthening our community bonds.

One thing we often ignore is balancing our diet. We tend to forget to eat vegetables and instead consume too much fatty food, especially during celebrations. This habit is unhealthy and can affect our well-being, so we should maintain a more balanced diet.

The best moment is making cookies together, enjoying quality time wherever we are. My son, half-naked due to the hot weather, laughed with us. We felt pure happiness. Eid brings joy and togetherness.
