Hello friends! Today I want to show you a charming part of colonial Havana: Brazil Street, known by Cubans as Teniente Rey. This street, which starts at the Prado, where the majestic Capitolio is located, and goes all the way to the Convent of San Francisco, is really beautiful.
Recently, I had the opportunity to walk a few blocks from Compostela Street to San Ignacio Street, right in the picturesque Plaza Vieja. This part of Havana is pedestrianized, as the street is completely cobblestone and is part of the city's historic district.

In a detour of about 200 meters along Cuba Street, I discovered a building that caught my attention. It was the former Academy of Sciences, built in 1861, according to the exterior panel, it is now a museum that exhibits some of the achievements of great Cuban scientists, such as Dr. Carlos J. Finlay, who discovered that the Aedes Aegypti mosquito was the transmitter of the dangerous yellow fever. I was captivated by its architectural design, although, due to my haste, I was unable to enter. However, I know it deserves a visit, as it will surely be a very interesting place.
En un desvío de unos 200 metros por la calle Cuba, descubrí un edificio que me llamó la atención. Se trataba de la antigua Academia de Ciencias, construida en 1861, según refleja el panel exterior, actualmente es un museo que exhibe algunos de los logros de grandes científicos cubanos, como el doctor Carlos J. Finlay, quien descubrió que el mosquito Aedes Aegypti era el transmisor de la peligrosa fiebre amarilla. Me cautivó su diseño arquitectónico, aunque, debido a mis prisas, no pude entrar. At the corner of San Ignacio Street, on the left is the impressive Gran Plaza Vieja. Unfortunately, I didn't have much time, so I had to turn right, where picturesque buildings can be seen.

Arriving at the corner of Amargura, we find a beautiful building of exuberant baroque style: the great Hotel Raquel. This place attracts everyone's attention because of its impressive beauty. I was almost late for my appointment, because I could not miss this jewel of Cuban architecture.
