Let’s explore with me an ICY lake and its surroundings. I walked around it last week as I so needed a little break from renovating the cabin. Some of you know that I am really busy with it and don’t go out a lot, as there is a deadline… So for a little break I went for a walk. It was rather cold as the wind was harsh. This didn’t make me change my mind though. Let’s wrap up really warm and come along! We will see some awesome wintery views along this lake, the forests around us, little huts in the middle of nowhere that are about to collapse and some holiday cabins scattered around the lake. You can also see that it started to defrost… so we “finally” see some ground after a long winter. (read; so far 6 months of snow and ice it feels forever…) This beautiful lake is located ~ in Kamsjön, Västerbotten County, in northern SWEDEN 🇸🇪
With this post I’m joining in at the Wednesday Walk #challenge today. That is hosted by @tattoodjay every week on Wednesday.

Today’s photographic selection will be of 28 PHOTOGRAPHS
Date : 8 April 2025
The Photographs in this post are taken with my iPhone.
I will follow the time stamps on them. So it looks like you are experiencing my adventures on this walk to discover everything what I saw, like the little details seen through my eyes. 🙂
Location of the lake we find on the following screenshots of Google Maps:
Zooming out we see it is rather north in Sweden:
Are you wrapped up well? Ok, let’s go…
On the little stretch of sand next to the small road that runs through this area we find this setup. A picnic table and some chairs.
The sign reads; “Välkommen till Kamsjön” ~ “Welcome to Kamsjön”
There is no parking lot or anything but you can park the car next to the road. As long as the surface is hard enough to park on.
Our first views looking out over the lake. We see the sky is moody today. The wind is strong…
Along the edge next to us we see the thick ice on the lake started to melt.
We peek through the tall trees and see holiday cabins across the lake in the distance.
We walk a bit. It is quite… nobody around. Not even at the cabins. Just us and nature.
We see a little bit of blue sky coming through in the distance.
Walking further we are getting closer to the cabins and can take a better look at them. What a stunning location they have.
Looking out along the length of the lake now. As you can see the forests are thick and reach all the way to the edge of the lake.
Some snowmobile tracks on the ice are slowly fading away as the ice is starting to melt. It will still take a while to go fully.
The colours of the ice are stunning. Hard to capture on my iPhone. There is a blue tone to it.
As we walk and walk we see the cabins better. I see solar panels on the roof. They will be fully off grid. Some canoes next to the cabins.
I like the location of the next cabin. A bit more protected with the trees around. I can imagine sitting on those garden chairs on the little deck haha.
Bbrrr it is getting cold. We walk a bit faster now. The wind makes it so icy… walking faster will keep us warm.
We cross the little road when we reach the end of the lake and we are looking out over some marsh lands. We see a small hut through the trees.
The sky is very moody now and reflects beautifully in the water. As you can see, less snow and ice on this side. The water isn’t deep here so it has had the opportunity to defrost quicker.
Zooming out you can take in this view fully… what a scenery…
I zoom in on the small hut. You can see literally through the wooden planks. Love this photo of it. The vegetation is still flat as it had no time to regenerate yet. Soon this view will be snow free… soon spring will be there.
I Love the moody weather today. The ripples in the water… luckily you still see some reflections.
As we walk further we see more nature. The land and trees peeking through from underneath the snowy blanket. That has been covering it for 6 months so far. Nature will awaken… in just a few weeks.
It almost looks like the sun wants to break through the clouds.
It makes for some atmospheric captures. I love moody scenery. My favourite time to go out and shoot.
Yes, I couldn’t help capturing more of the little hut. It is just so photogenic.
Ok ok… we walk further now.
I see this large tree.
It shelters the nature around it. Did you know the area right around the trees will defrost first?
More snow but no ice anymore on the water of the marsh lands on this side.
Almost did the sun manage… but the clouds are holding it back. We just walk and take in the beautiful scenery.
One more view… before we get too cold.
Heading back to the car now, as we have a long drive back home…
Bye bye now, until next time.
…and here I say that’s all for today’s post my friends.
