Good morning Monday, NeedleWork Monday friends! I'm always happy to reappear here, even though I've had little time for a while, it's my natural way of being busy day by day, but I keep thinking about sharing creations with you, and as is the case today, something beautiful that happened a few days ago and has me fascinated.
A few weeks ago was my birthday, I've reached my 36th birthday and I'm closer to 40, sometimes I think my birthdays mean nothing to me, that they don't matter to me, or that they matter too much. This year found me working and very busy, but among all the hustle, bustle, greetings and little celebration, I found a beautiful gesture from my family. In the end, they are the ones who know us best and take care of us in their own way. The family. And since there has always been a sewing machine in my family, it is hard to consider that learning was not part of the plan.
Maybe I didn't tell this in detail before, but the family machine is old, and since it is not used much, it tends to have mistakes in some stitches, something that is really uncomfortable when learning, or maybe just making two simple seams.Because of this, and because my older brother knows these ins and outs, he chose the perfect gift. Assuming that this will give freedom to my creations and my exploration, I have my own 0km when it comes to sewing machines.
It's something nice, something good and something better at the same time.
Sometimes things happen and they are just to surprise us.Who would have thought that after so many years, and after thinking out loud, I would receive this gift. I am not a materialistic person and even, I have more objects than I would like, but it is not a problem when it comes to having my own sewing machine.I am foolishly happy about this material good, because I start the journey of experimenting, watching videos, trying things out.
I have been given my own 0km and now I have to learn how to drive it and be able to make room for all the projects that you share and that I could hardly do in the past.
Now they are waiting for me.A new creative door has opened in my days, as if there was a lack of activities, don't you think?Well now I will make my bags, my clothes, hats, costumes, I will learn about underwear and I will also make curtains!I have seen toiletry bags, reusable makeup removers, book covers and gloves in 'how to' and it seems to me that this new vice has only one way and that is forward.
As I look at patterns, measurements or stitching, I am learning about what is most important, and at the same time, I am recognizing how the machine should be used and stored. It is compact, light, I took a lot of pictures while I was peeling off the stickers, reading the manuals, recognizing the different parts.I did the first winding work very slowly, and placed the thread accordingly.I tested the seams and experienced my difficulties, my sight, my habits....
These past few weeks, when I had a little time, I went out to buy materials.
Although I have a friend who is professionally dedicated to the world of sewing and he gave me advice and some fabrics, I was thinking that I would need other things like threads, pins, scissors, chalk, elastic, and surely much more. So little by little I have been buying some things, and propose to find a special place to keep everything organized and together. You will know better than me that all this requires time and order. You can't dedicate an hour to sewing if it takes you half an hour to arrange everything, machine, fabric, threads, etc. So I understood that having everything ready and tidy will give better order to my sewing moments.Optimize space and time.

I also write down everything I need, and I look into it, whether it's materials, or specific doubts about how to do this or that. I've been watching some videos on how to place clamps, make vests, among other things. But although it is not far from what I want to achieve, I'll start with the simplest, and I managed to make some stitches, invent some charts, make straight practice seams, curves, angles, etc. I think being a new discipline I have to be very patient and curious. The videos are usually complete but you have to take it carefully, as we don't all do it the same.Learning about the technique is something I am open to and I am going to allow myself to know and make a lot of mistakes, because this new tool opens doors I don't know yet, and I will give myself to it as a new adventure to learn from and improve with.
So with this post I say goodbye to you, knowing that I have many projects ahead of me, and others of those you already know, such as knitting and applique. I am beginning to believe that my needlework world is bigger and has my focus set there.I love these activities too much, they clear my mind and give me creative power. So I hope you will also tolerate me learning and sharing about this new discipline for me.
I send a huge hug to all of you! Have a fantastic Monday.
