Hello Splinterlands summoners! Another season has concluded and as usual I spend my glints on legendary reward chests to upgrade my legendary cards. My best place during the season was Gold III League. I also earned less glints this season compared to when I was using Chaos Legion set. This is because my cards are still at low level and my inexperience in using them and forming the most optimal teams. It's frustrating but I lost several battles to level one cards because my team has poor synergy.
At the end of the season, I was only able to afford two legendary chests. It contained cards that I already have but not enough to upgrade them.
Guild Brawl
Our guild also finished another brawl. I'm happy to report that our performance this time was a big improvement from last week's eighth place.
My own performance also improved. I contributed six wins out of nine games. Each of us earned 5,600 merits and 70 SPS. Guild brawls comprise a large part of my weekly SPS earnings and I'm grateful to be part of our guild.
Guild Store
I saved over nine thousand merits which I used to buy four Gladiator cases. I was hoping to get a legendary card from today's pull and upgrade my legendary cards.
I did not get any legendaries but the cards I got were not bad either. Instead of legendaries, I got four epic cards instead. That's on top of the six rare cards I got from this set.
I was able to upgrade one epic card, Gorth. Although I don't use this card at all, it's nice to have another option for the tank position if the need arises.
Gorth is not a bad card, it's just that there are better cards than him like the common card, Chimney Wallstop.
Featured Battles
The following battles involve my favorite combos in the Earth team. They are the usual line up I use in rank battles and also have a combo specifically for Quora.
Battle 1
My Team
In this battle, legendary cards are not allowed by the ruleset. I picked the Earth splinter with Quora in the tank position.
In second position I had the Virid Venomancer. She deals two magic damage, has two speed, an armor and three health. She is a good unit to put behind Quora since she provides the unit in front of her the Shield ability. This means another layer of protection for Quora that will allow her to stay in battle longer.
In third position, I had the Thanalorian Blade. She deals two melee damage and has three speed. She also has an armor and five health for defense. She has the Opportunity and Execute abilities so she doesn't benefit from the Bloodline Dominion buff from the archon, Kaylia.
In fourth position is the Blackmoor Wildelf. She does two magic damage, has three speed and three health. She is a bit soft on defense so I placed her in the middle.
In fifth position is another elf, Aranduriel. She is an epic card and does three ranged damage. I have three elves in my team with the Execute ability while Quora has tank duties and my sixth unit guards my rear against sneak attackers.
In sixth position is the Halfling Refugee, a one mana card with six health. I put him in the rear to guard against attacks from behind.
Opponent Team
My opponent chose the legendary dragon archon Sheng Xiao. Making up his team are the Halfling Refugee in the tank position and Chimney Wallstop in secondary tank. The rest of his team is composed of damage dealers in the rear. My opponent's units are higher level than mine and on paper it looks like he has the advantage due to his superior firepower.
The Battle
Quora was a tough tank aided by the Shield from Virid Venomancer. Meanwhile, the three elves took advantage of their Execute ability and cut down the enemy even if they have the higher level.
Battle 2
In this battle, legendary cards are allowed and the ruleset includes Equalizer and Melee Mayhem. The archons are silenced so the other elves will not have the Execute ability. I basically used the same team with Quora and Virid Venomancer combo but tank duties fell on the Warborn Chieftain since Quora can attack with melee from the second position. I also chose units with high damage like Chaos Battle Mage to maximize my team's damage potential. I still had the Thanalorian Blade since she has the Execute ability on her own.
This time, I have the higher level team as my opponent only had a level one archon. Coupled with my proven combos, I took the victory in this battle rather easily.
