Recientemente estuve de visita en la Plaza Indio Mara caminando y disfrutando de una linda tarde en familia y con amigos mientras esperábamos que llegara el autobús que llevaría a mi hija y a sus amigos a la playa, acá les comparto algunas fotos del lugar.
La Plaza Indio Mara fue inaugurada el 22 de Febrero de 1949, hasta la fecha ha sido restaurada en varias oportunidades. En la parte central hay un monumento compuesto por varias esculturas obra del español Antonio Rodríguez del Villar, las mismas rinden homenaje a los indígenas que habitan nuestro estado Zulia, en especial rinde homenaje al Cacique Mara, un aguerrido indígena que hizo frente al yugo español que invadía sus territorios para conquistarlos y de cuyo nombre se dice nuestra ciudad recibió el nombre de Maracaibo.
