It's Wednesday already, how quickly this week has passed.
I planned to go to the very Danube, but I left that for another time.
And this morning I got up early, around five. I had to drive about 5 kilometers to reach my destination
And the destination is the neighboring village of Vilovo.
I used to go to this place often as a child to swim.
The sun is still struggling to get over the trees.
My destination is Vilovo Ponds, the local name is Jame
Jama 1 used to be a swimming pool and that's where I started, Jama 2 is a pond and Jame 3 is a small water source between two roads overgrown with reeds.
There used to be no sign, no fence, no equipment for swimming, no shower, no bench
There was none of that, but we had much less reeds
Now it looks a bit neglected
I remember as a child that they used to sink boats to go and cut reeds with them
And drag a water grass around the entrance for swimmers.
Since this is standing water, it is ideal for reeds.
It grows very well here, it is over two meters high.
I don't know the whole story of how these Jama came about
Was there one and the road divided it?
And since there was a dangerous curve on the old road and people were falling into the water
They built another road and now we have three Jame
The location of Vilovo Ponds itself is on the regional road Novi Sad - TitelThis small island of reeds between the roads is not used by anyone except ducks, snakes and frogs.
In this last picture, Titelski Breg is visible in the distance, the old road has fallen into disrepair.
Nice place for a walk, rest, and barbecue
If you want to swim, think first :)
I know there is sand in the water, at least it used to be like that, and there wasn't a lot of mud.
But this neglected place probably has a lot of mud besides the reeds.
The tour around Jam is about five to six kilometers long, to avoid parts that are submerged and a real swamp
Well, it's not like it used to be, but it took me back to my childhood, I hope they fix it up a bit and it will be a cool place to come
In the distance you can see the mountain Fruška Gora.
Thanks for reading.
Until next time Stay Healthy.
