We didn’t plan anything special. It was just another Saturday—until the traffic hit. What started as a frustrating ride home turned into an unexpected comfort break at Ramyeon Bar. But plot twist: we didn’t get the ramen. We got the chicken… and wow, it totally saved us.
My office mates and I had all agreed earlier in the day. We were all tired, and honestly, the thought of flopping into bed sounded amazing.
The moment we stepped outside the office, we were hit by something worse than tiredness—crazy traffic. The kind where cars weren’t even moving, horns were honking non-stop, and everything just felt like one big mess. We all looked at each other, kind of reading the same thought: Do we want to sit through this right now?
One of us, half-jokingly, said, “Why don’t we just eat first?” No one argued. In fact, I think we were all just waiting for someone to say it out loud. Since we were all heading in the same direction anyway, and riding the same vehicle home, we figured—why not? Let’s let the traffic die down while we enjoy dinner.
That’s how we ended up walking a few blocks and finding this small, cozy spot called Ramyeon Bar.
I’ve passed by it a couple of times before, but this was my first time actually going in. The name itself tells you it’s all about ramen—and yes, their menu is full of ramen choices, from spicy ones to cheesy ones to the more classic flavors.
There’s even a station where you can cook your own noodles, which I thought was pretty cool.
But funny enough, we didn’t go there for ramen.
We were all craving rice and chicken, something heavier and more filling. It had been a long day, and we needed comfort food. So we all ordered the same thing—their famous Original Chicken with rice. And oh my gosh, it was so good. Like, not overhyped good—just simple, honest, perfectly cooked chicken. Crunchy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and seasoned just right.
Paired with warm rice? Heaven.
While we were waiting for our food and even more while we were eating, we started talking. About work, yes, but also about random stuff—funny stories, old office moments, weekend plans that may or may not happen. We laughed, teased each other, and just genuinely enjoyed being together. There was no pressure to impress anyone. No pretending. Just a bunch of tired people enjoying good food and better company.
What made the place even more charming was its bright yellow theme—it gave off this cheerful, energetic vibe, like the place itself was smiling at you. On the walls, they had photos of customers, all caught in happy, candid moments. It made the space feel personal, like the kind of place where stories are made.
We didn’t plan for that night to be memorable, but it turned out to be one of those little unexpected joys. The kind that reminds you it doesn’t take much to be happy—just a warm meal, familiar faces, and a good laugh.
Would we go back to Ramyeon Bar? Absolutely. And maybe next time, we’ll actually try the ramen.
