Hello Hive
After 40 days of fasting, it is finally time to feast and scream a happy Easter to everyone. The Christian community has really tried to have religiously kept this exercise for years because I can imagine what it means to fast for 40 days and deprive ourselves of some pleasure, making a lot of other sacrifices as well.
Each year I equally try to participate in the fasting, but this year didn't favor me that much; hence, I exempted myself from the fast. It's good to understand our health and strength before embarking on spiritual exercises in order not to end up creating more problems for ourselves.
Notwithstanding, we are rejoicing and appreciating God for the depth of love he has shown us by dying on the cross to redeem mankind.
In the spirit of the celebrations, it is a compulsory duty to at least go to church on Easter Day to show our heartfelt gratitude to God.
Nobody desires to appear shabby in social gatherings, not to talk of the church. Hence, people come to check dressed in their best attire. While others brush off old clothes to make them presentable, it was notable that some people even go to the length of sewing new clothes. Sewing new clothes isn't bad, especially when you have the means to, and particularly in cases where you have nothing presentable to wear.
When it comes to clothing and what to wear, my family members are covered. Everyone is resting assured that they can rely on me to either gift them new clothes or assist them to sew their fabrics if they have any.
In another vein, I could equally help them to recycle old clothes into new clothes, making them into better and trending designs or fashion styles. This makes even the least admired clothes become attractive again.
My sister was contemplating what to wear before I interrupted her thought with this lovely design I found on the internet. It was a simple design, but with a little touch here and there, I transformed it into an elegant nature attire she can wear with pretty headgear.
I started with cutting an A shape out of the front and back blocks.
Then I got a lace material to design the neckline with it.
Then this 1" bias would be the highlight of this design, but I couldn't mimic the pattern on the internet because I was short of this green 1" bias.
The bias is a bit expensive, and if I desired to see the exact design in the picture I saw, I would end up spending more money; hence, I resorted to creating my own design.
I sewed the bias on the dress according to how I wish that it stays.
Then I got this organic fabric, measured it out, and added it to the length of the dress. I wanted to sew a complete long gown, but the quantity of organza also hindered me, as purchasing more would mean more expenses for me.
I was then stuck with sewing a short, free, and yet lovely dress.
I continued with the stitching here and there.
It was then time for the sleeves, which I had sewn to her measurements.
Everything was complete, and I spent almost $3 for the dress accessory. It was worth it, as some of these accessories are what make an ordinary outfit stand out.
I decided to model the dress before my sister got hold of it. I am yet to get a picture of her wearing this, as we live apart and are yet to meet since this celebration.
What do you think of our dress?
