Cassiopeia
es el título de este film, que muestra la dura realidad de una enfermedad que no es terminal pero tampoco tiene una cura definitiva y es la protagonista quien sufre de esta grave enfermedad a pesar de ser una mujer joven con un futuro brillante por delante.
Hello friends of the Movies & Tv community, I hope you are well ✨. Today I want to share with you my review of a South Korean movie that I found by chance but its name caught my attention.
Cassiopeia
is the title of this film, which shows the harsh reality of a disease that is not terminal but also has no definitive cure and it is the protagonist who suffers from this serious illness despite being a young woman with a bright future ahead.
Su-jin es una mujer que trabaja como abogada y que es madre soltera de su única hija Gina, ella es bastante exigente ya que su trabajo amerita siempre estar presente y atenta a cualquier situación o problema además de que tiene un jefe que le exige demasiado y que muchas veces la lleva al límite del estrés. En medio de todo encuentra en Gina su refugio aunque muchas veces la trata con demasiada rudeza, tanto que en algún punto desea que su hija pueda recibir una buena educación y quiere enviarla a los Estados Unidos junto a su padre que vive allí.
Su-jin is a woman who works as a lawyer and is a single mother of her only daughter Gina, she is quite demanding since her job requires her to always be present and attentive to any situation or problem and she has a boss who demands too much and often takes her to the limit of stress. In the midst of it all, she finds in Gina her refuge, although she often treats her with too much rudeness, so much so that at some point she wants her daughter to receive a good education and wants to send her to the United States with her father who lives there.
Gina está completamente negada a ir a Estados Unidos pero siendo una niña no tiene muchas opciones por lo que tendrá que hacer lo que su madre Su-jin le diga. Pero entre este tiempo antes de que se vaya Gina con su padre, el abuelo In-woo padre de Su-jin se toma un tiempo para poder cuidar de Gina hasta que está se vaya del país. Lo que no se esperaba es que la estadía del padre de Su-jin se alargara tanto debido a que ella empieza a tener problemas con su trabajo y vida diaria debido a momentos dónde olvida las cosas que iba hacer, esto la alerta y deciden ir con un doctor.
Gina is completely reluctant to go to America but being a child she doesn't have much choice so she will have to do what her mother Su-jin tells her to do. But in between this time before Gina leaves with her father, Grandpa In-woo Su-jin's father takes some time off so that he can take care of Gina until she leaves the country. What he didn't expect is that Su-jin's father's stay will be so long because she starts to have problems with her work and daily life due to moments where she forgets things she was going to do, this alerts her and they decide to go to a doctor.
Esta historia es sumamente cruda y muestra una realidad que se suele ver en las personas más ancianas o mayores de cincuenta años, la enfermedad del Alzheimer es la prueba que tendrá que vivir Su-jin junto a su padre In-woo. Lo más terrible es que debido al tipo de Alzheimer que tiene que aparece en personas más jóvenes como ella; se desarrolla mucho más rápido y Su-jin va perdiendo poco a poco las habilidades normales de cualquier ser humano necesitando de la ayuda de su padre para poder cuidar de si misma.
This story is extremely raw and shows a reality that is usually seen in older people or people over fifty years old, Alzheimer's disease is the test that Su-jin will have to live with her father In-woo. The most terrible thing is that due to the type of Alzheimer's that appears in younger people like her; it develops much faster and Su-jin gradually loses the normal skills of any human being needing the help of her father to take care of herself.
En medio de todo está el sufrimiento por el miedo a perder por completo la memoria y olvidar a la única persona importante que es su hija Gina quien no tiene idea de la situación de salud por la cual está pasando su madre. Es sumamente difícil ver el deterioro de una persona que va perdiendo la memoria, desde tener cambios bruscos de humor y terminar siendo alguien agresivo hasta volverse completamente irreconocible, casi como si se tratara de un niño pequeño. La valentía del padre de Su-jin es lo que mantiene la esperanza de que Su-jin pueda tener una vida más tranquila, aunque le ocurre algo repentino casi al finalizar la película que me dejó en shock.
In the midst of it all is the suffering due to the fear of losing her memory completely and forgetting the only important person, her daughter Gina, who has no idea of the health situation her mother is going through. It is extremely difficult to see the deterioration of a person who is losing her memory, from having sudden mood swings and ending up being aggressive to becoming completely unrecognizable, almost as if she were a small child. Su-jin's father's bravery is what holds out hope that Su-jin can have a more peaceful life, although something happens to him suddenly near the end of the film that left me in shock.
No es una historia de amor como suelen hacer los coreanos, es una historia de una realidad que muchos viven detrás de las habitaciones de sus casas, donde el olvido va ganándole cualquier deseo de poder recordar o no olvidar tan deprisa. Realmente tiene escenas que te dejan impresionado sobre todo la actuación de Su-jin quien muestra de una forma casi perfecta como una persona con Alzheimer se comporta y sufre a la vez que no entiende que es lo que sucede en su cabeza que ya no tiene la capacidad de retener información como antes.
It is not a love story as Koreans usually do, it is a story of a reality that many live behind the rooms of their homes, where oblivion is winning over any desire to remember or not forget so quickly. It really has scenes that leave you impressed especially the performance of Su-jin who shows in an almost perfect way how a person with Alzheimer's behaves and suffers while not understanding what is going on in his head that no longer has the ability to retain information as before.
