Hace poco termine de leer el libro Sharp Objects de Gillian Flynn y quedé fascinada por la historia y más que nada por la gran imaginación y desarrollo de la misma que me hizo querer buscar la adaptación que le hicieron de HBO como una mini serie de 8 episodios. Realmente estaba muy emocionada por poder ver cómo cobra vida está historia tan dramática como dolorosa y me gustó tanto que decidí hacerle una reseña a la serie que lleva el mismo nombre del libro y que tiene a excelentes actores dentro de la película. Así que los invito a leer mi reseña 🤐.

I recently finished reading the book Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn and I was fascinated by the story and more than anything by the great imagination and development of it that made me want to look for the HBO adaptation of it as a mini series of 8 episodes. I was really excited to see how this dramatic and painful story comes to life and I liked it so much that I decided to review the series that bears the same name of the book and that has excellent actors in the movie. Sharp Objects es una serie basada en la historia del libro de Gillian Flynn que lleva el mismo nombre. La protagonista es Camille Preaker una mujer llena de heridas del pasado que se reflejan en la actualidad siendo ya una reportera y viviendo fuera del pueblo que la vio crecer. Con una vida muy marcada por el sufrimiento y la perdida de su hermana menor producto de una enfermedad, Camille de alguna manera apagaba las voces de su cabeza haciéndose daño a si misma, perdiendo el control de sus propias emociones y cayendo en un bucle autodestructivo donde parece nunca tener su final feliz.
Sharp Objects is a series based on the story of Gillian Flynn's book of the same name. The protagonist is Camille Preaker, a woman full of wounds from the past that are reflected in the present being already a reporter and living outside the town where she grew up. With a life marked by suffering and the loss of her younger sister to an illness, Camille somehow turned off the voices in her head, hurting herself, losing control of her own emotions and falling into a self-destructive loop where she never seems to have a happy ending.

Something that Camille hates more than the wounds on her body is having to return to Wind Gap, her hometown, this time to be a reporter in the case of the murders of young Ann and Natalie, two girls from the town who disappeared for no apparent reason and were found dead and without teeth, a horror story for a town where these things never happen and that is what makes Camille feel more interested in discovering the truth behind these murders.
No solo tendrá que descubrir que fue lo que sucedió con estás dos niñas que aparentaban no ser problemáticas y que murieron en extrañas circunstancias, sino que también debera revivir recuerdos de su niñez y de su familia, pero sobre todo de su madre Adora quien nunca sintió ningún tipo de amor hacia ella, además de que siempre le reprochó no parecerse a su hermana muerta y que fue creada producto de una relación con un hombre al que muy poco conocía y de quien tiene solo malos recuerdos. Esto por supuesto afecto a Camille en su crecimiento y autoestima llevando a auto lesionarse y beber alcohol para adormecer el dolor que siente y que hace que su vida sea un infierno.

This of course affected Camille in her growth and self-esteem leading to self-injury and drinking alcohol to numb the pain she feels and that makes her life a living hell.
Una de las cosas que más me gustó de la serie es que mantuvieron la historia casi al cien por ciento igual al libro, siendo así una de las mejores series adaptadas que he visto en mucho tiempo. Y que además cuenta con una historia turbia pero que te enseña tanto a través de la protagonista interpretada por Amy Adams, quien deja todo de si por ser lo más parecido a la Camille de la historia. Otra cosa que me gustó fue el tema de la película y como supieron hablar de trastornos mentales de una manera decente y que se dieran a conocer muchos de los diagnósticos que hoy en día pueden seguir siendo un tabú pero que existen y son una realidad en la vida cotidiana.
One of the things I liked most about the series is that they kept the story almost one hundred percent the same as the book, making it one of the best adapted series I've seen in a long time. And that it also has a murky story but one that teaches you so much through the main character played by Amy Adams, who gives her all to be the closest thing to the Camille of the story. Another thing I liked was the theme of the movie and how they knew how to talk about mental disorders in a decent way and that they made known many of the diagnoses that today may still be a taboo but that exist and are a reality in everyday life.
Cada episodio muestra la historia de manera exacta al libro solo con algunas pequeñas diferencias ya que en el libro siempre suelen ser más detallados con los escenarios y los personajes. En cada episodio se muestra un nombre como título y cada una de estas palabras vienen de las que quedaron marcadas en la memoria de Camille y que ella se escribió en su propio cuerpo como muestra del dolor de todo lo que tuvo que vivir a una muy corta edad. Esta serie no es apta para personas que estén pasando por pensamientos suicidas o por inestabilidad emocional, es una historia cruda que se muestra tal cual es y que no se limita en mostrar cada una de las cosas horribles que le ocurrieron a la protagonista y a otros personajes.
Each episode shows the story in an exact way to the book only with some small differences since in the book they are always more detailed with the scenarios and characters. In each episode a name is shown as a title and each of these words come from the words that were marked in Camille's memory and that she wrote on her own body as a sign of the pain of everything she had to live through at a very young age. This series is not suitable for people who are going through suicidal thoughts or emotional instability, it is a raw story that is shown as it is and does not limit itself in showing each of the horrible things that happened to the protagonist and other characters.
En esta serie se muestra un trastorno que es muy poco hablado pero que está presente en muchas mujeres, este trastorno es clave para revelar muchas de las verdades dentro de la historia, de hecho es el comienzo del sufrimiento de los personajes principales y es tan serio que incluso puede llegar a acabar con la vida de otras personas. Es difícil no hacer spoilers pero es una serie increíble con actores de la talla de Amy Adams, Patricia Clarkson, Chris Messina, Sydney Sweeney, Eliza Scanlen, Elizabeth Perkins, entre otros que hicieron un gran trabajo para que la serie fuera un éxito.
This series shows a disorder that is very little talked about but is present in many women, this disorder is key to reveal many of the truths within the story, in fact it is the beginning of the suffering of the main characters and is so serious that it can even end the lives of others. It is difficult not to make spoilers but it is an incredible series with actors of the stature of Amy Adams, Patricia Clarkson, Chris Messina, Sydney Sweeney, Eliza Scanlen, Elizabeth Perkins, among others who did a great job to make the series a success.
Para mí fue impresionante la historia, me leí el libro tan rápidamente que me enganche con esta escritora que además tiene otras historias cómo Gone Girl que también fue un éxito tanto el libro como la adaptación a película. Fue una historia difícil de ver pero valió totalmente la pena, sintió el dolor de la protagonista y la intriga en toda la historia para llegar al punto clave de la verdad. La recomiendo muchísimo si no la han visto, si pueden leer el libro también se llevarán una buena experiencia y probablemente quieran saber más de esta escritora. Pueden encontrar la serie en HBO y en plataformas de series online, vean la serie si están preparados porque realmente es fuerte los temas que se tocan y lo explícito de algunas escenas de auto lesión y de problemas psicológicos.
For me the story was impressive, I read the book so quickly that I got hooked with this writer who also has other stories like Gone Girl which was also a success both the book and the movie adaptation. It was a difficult story to watch but totally worth it, felt the pain of the protagonist and the intrigue throughout the story to get to the key point of truth. I highly recommend it if you haven't seen it, if you can read the book you will also get a good experience and probably want to know more about this writer. You can find the series on HBO and online series platforms, watch the series if you are ready because it is really strong the issues that are touched and the explicitness of some scenes of self-harm and psychological problems.
