The euphoric happiness of travel! When you live in one place for a month, and then fly rapidly within a few days to meet new mountains...
Yesterday I went on a short trip to Turkey again. We drove 480 km from Kemer to Aksaray. It was a fascinating ride at high speed, passing by beautiful mountain landscapes by car! Today you can experience all this beauty with me. It's like you were driving with me in a car, isn't that cool?
I always look around with admiration when I drive along new, unknown serpentines. Of course, I keep my focus on the road. At that time, Victoria, who is riding in the front seat next to me, takes photos and videos. I really like watching how the reliefs of the mountains in front of me magically change. I turn on my favorite "afro house black coffee remix" and have a blast :)
It's especially nice to see the sunset while driving! And then the road begins in the dark. I try to leave sooner, but we, three girls, rarely manage to leave home before 2 pm, so we usually arrive at our destination after midnight :(
When my eyes start to get tired and I want to sleep, we stop at a gas station to drink another coffee and buy something sweet to boost my energy. And my daughters' favorite ice cream to please them!
A new city always looks mystical at night. We drive slowly using the GPS, looking for our apartment. It turns out: it is in the city center, near an exotic, beautifully lit historical building! There is a bit of a problem with parking here. We need to park our car on the street, but we are not sure if it is allowed here :)
In the morning we are happy to find our car in the same place :), Thank God there is no fine! I look at the historical building, which looked mystical at night. During the day it does not look so beautiful.
The city of Aksaray is a memory of a sad story, that happened to us in January... But we have to overcome that fear. Now we drive very slowly here to notice all the dogs that suddenly want to cross the road...
This time the main goal is to visit the Selime Monastery, which is located 28 km from the city. We move, enjoying the views of the snow-capped mountains in the distance! What could be more beautiful than mountains? Only those mountains that you have never seen before!
Hunger forces us to stop at a roadside cafe. The choice is small, but there were traditional Turkish dishes that we liked: çıkofte, sarma and tea. I stop for a moment by the road to take a photo of the mountains in the distance. These are very interesting rock formations that look like a flat area. And below are old village houses.
Finally, we arrived at the foot of the unique high rock formations that served as houses for the monks. We climbed up to examine the doors and windows of these unique cells, but suddenly a sandstorm began! We were very scared, because strong gusts of wind hit small pebbles on the skin, and even injured Darynka's skin on her hand. It was the first time I had been in such a whirlwind, which in my opinion was dangerous. We quickly hid in the car and decided to explore the monastery tomorrow!
On the way home, we saw a rainbow that looked very beautiful in our car mirror. Also, a very beautiful mosque near the highway caught our attention, which had four tall towers.
And we moved slowly to notice all the stray dogs that often run across the road here, enjoying the beautiful red hills of this harsh Cappadocia region of Turkey, which captivates with its unique rock ranges.
So, later I will tell you about the unique place for which we came to Aksaray - the Selime Rock Monastery. Follow my adventures!
Thank you for your visit and support 😊 💕
