Hey Summoner!
How’s it going? With all the buzz in the Splinterlands community around the opening of Yabanius’s Pickle Factory, I finally gave in and tried one of the most quirky and unusual new cards: YABA’S PICKLE. It might not be the most powerful attacker on paper, but trust me... this pickle can throw your opponent off big time.
If you ask me, YABA’S PICKLE is no ordinary card. It’s like a Swiss army knife of defense — super flexible and fits well in many formations. Especially in rulesets like Explosive Weaponry, Back to Basics, or Super Sneak — it can seriously turn the tide.
With only 400 copies available at max level, it’s worth collecting now before it becomes too rare. I managed to grab it at level 3 for now — still saving up SPS — but even that was enough to help me win in lower leagues.
Honestly, when I first saw this card, I was like, “Wait, seriously? A pickle? On a battlefield?” But after I took a closer look, its stats and defensive abilities are mind-blowing.
For just 4 mana, it has 7 HP, 4 armor, 2 speed, and a pretty awesome lineup of abilities:
- Dodge to evade physical attacks
- Shield to reduce melee/ranged damage
- Slow to reduce enemy speed
- Heal to restore its own HP
And although it has no attack power, it can still fight — if you pair it with a monster that has Weapon Training. That’s where the fun begins.
Strategy in This Match
I used YABA’S PICKLE in a battle with a 29 mana cap and the Explosive Weaponry ruleset (all monsters deal Blast damage). I thought, “Perfect chance to experiment.”
Here’s the team I put together:
- Halfling Refugee as my frontline tank
- Daigendark Surveyor for magic reflect
- YABA’S PICKLE, of course
- Moxian Rebel to give weapon training (magic) to the Pickle
- Lunaki Howler and Shock Trooper as main magic attackers (Shock Trooper packs 4 magic damage!)
I picked Marlai Singariel as my summoner since I was leaning into a magic-heavy lineup.
My opponent also used Marlai and Water element monsters. But I had the edge in numbers — meaning more attacks, more pressure.
What made me grin was when YABA’S PICKLE joined the attack, thanks to Moxian Rebel’s weapon training. Sure, it wasn’t the main damage dealer, but just being part of the offense really helped. And with Explosive Weaponry, every magic hit triggered blast damage to adjacent enemies.
One epic moment was Daigendark Surveyor reflecting enemy magic right back at them — they ended up taking more damage from themselves!
What I really admire about YABA’S PICKLE is its staying power. With shield and heal, it’s not just sitting there — it’s a slippery wall that refuses to fall.

If you’re a new player staking SPS, you can get YABA’S PICKLE from the shop. Just 1,000 SPS staked per card — a bargain considering its long-term value.
But keep this in mind: the card really shines when paired with a monster that has Weapon Training. That’s where strategy and card knowledge come into play.
The good news is, the Splinterlands community is super active. Lots of players share unique Pickle + Weapon Training combos, which is super helpful for new players trying to make the most out of this card.
See you in the next battle — and may you also discover the magic in a single pickle... I mean, in YABA’S PICKLE! 🥒⚔️
👉 Don’t judge a card by its looks. Sometimes the silliest ones can take your enemy down before they even notice.
