Recently, I took a new approach to movies and TV series. I began a contest of watching movies or TV series I have watched in the past, to see what I might have missed, or something new I could gain. You know it is well known that if you want to learn something new, try reading a book again, so I decided to apply this knowledge to movies and TV Series.
The Big Bang was the first series on my mind to try this new approach on. Back in 2022, I watched the renowned sitcom for the first time while I was still new to the entire franchise and concept of the Big Bang. Then I was intrigued by how a sitcom with multiple episodes and seasons, and even a huge fan base of people who cried at the ending of the series, could be such a big hit. With this, I knew I had to watch to see for myself, and do not doubt me when I say it is a true work of comedy. So many inside jokes, dramatic ironies, and oblivious ques that will make you wonder if Sheldon is truly a robot.
Since I had watched it in the past, I told myself I had to do something different this time. I have to watch it from a different character's point of view, meaning most of my attention will be focused on one specific character, what they say, how they act and behave in certain situations, and most importantly, the jokes they crack. Since my first time watching was focused on Sheldon Cooper, this time I chose Howard Wolowitz.
Oh boy! This guy is funny and I still ask myself how I missed out on his ques when watching the previous times. From the way he is stylishly dressed, which depicts a child in an adult body with his outrageous belt buckles, down to the teasing jokes he's always throwing at his Indian friend Raj. All these masterpieces are from the acting of Simon Helberg. It was even more shocking when I watched his interview, and he is a different person from his character, Howard. To date, I am still finding it difficult to separate one from the other.
I can remember an episode from season 11, where Raj decides to give his friendship with Howard a break because of the constant ridicule from Howard. What is funny in that scene is that instead of Howard to take the conversation seriously, he decides to turn it into a lover's breakup where he is begging Raj if he can see other needy Indian men.
Watching this sitcom from a different viewpoint makes it a lot funnier and kind of new to me again. You could try it out on your favourite series or sitcom, and if it happens to be The Big Bang, I suggest you focus on Howard; you will get more sarcastic jokes from that guy.
