The images in this post are from our trip to Manhattan last week. The image above is a view from our hotel room in Midtown. It was nice to wake up every morning to this awesome view of the Empire State building.

We booked our hotel room with our Marriott credit card points, and our airfare was covered with Delta credit card points.

Our trip from Seattle started very early in the morning, we woke up around four in the morning to catch an Uber to the SeaTac airport.

As we did not have time to eat anything at home, we went to the Delta lounge as my wife had free passes to it due to her Delta status.

We had some snacks before the flight and then boarded the plane for a six hour flight to the JFK Airport in New York.

As we arrived in New York, we drove through Queens on our way to Manhattan. These buildings really reminded me of my hometown, Kharkiv, Ukraine.

It was a fairly long drive as traffic in New York is very similar to Seattle, though drivers seem more aggressive in New York than in Seattle.

So I was happy that we had someone else drive us. Otherwise, it would have been a stressful experience.

Surprisingly, gas prices in Manhattan are about one dollar cheaper than they are in the Seattle area.

In general, everything else in Manhattan is the same price or more than Seattle area prices.

Manhattan is a very large city. Skyscrapers go on and on endlessly when we flew back to Seattle from New York. we flew over downtown Seattle, and it looked like it was just a few blocks of skyscrapers, and that is it.

In Manhattan, the skyscrapers are as far as you can see. Here is the view from the top of Empire State building:

The first day we arrived at the hotel, we checked in and went to eat some burgers and other food at Refinery Rooftop, which was basically just a block away from our hotel.

It is a nice place with a very cool atmosphere, but the food and service were just good, nothing to write home about as they say.

But it was nice to be finally off the plane and done with driving, and have a good meal and start settling in.

After we ate we went on a short walk around fifth Avenue and then walked over to a very nice icecream place. Then we headed to our hotel and were ready to go to bed. That was pretty much a wrap up for our first day in Manhattan.

I will make a separate post about the rest of our New York trip at a different time as it was a great trip where we had a full three day program to show our daughter the New York City.

As far as Actifit goes I was able to get over ten thousand steps yesterday. Whenever I achieve a ten thousand step milestone I am very happy with my fitness for the day.

While we were in Manhattan fourteen thousand steps was just about average and I could definitely feel it.
