Today I would like to share one of my favorite combos in Splinterlands: Lily Shieldpaw dragon summoner combined with Iziar and Djinn Renova. This is a double triage play where a huge health Iziar is getting healed by Lily Shieldpaw and Djinn Renova via triage.

This combo works by drawing most of the enemy fire towards Iziar using his Taunt ability and then healing him via the triage abilities of the summoner and triage monster.

I have a perfect battle to illustrate this from our latest brawl where I was representing YGG Legion guild in the Wild Gold Tier Brawl.

The Strategy

In this Guild Brawl battle my strategy was formed around one of my favorite combos of Lily Shieldpaw, Iziar and Djinn Renova. This was a particularly effective strategy to use in this ruleset where we have a fairly high mana of forty nine and ability to use only five monsters because I was able to play high mana summoner and high mana monsters. Additionally there was an armored ruleset in effect, which means magic was a good choice here.

Also, we didn't have earth splinter available that means that I don't have to worry about Immortalis summoner which is really strong against magic. Still in order to hedge my bets I put two high damage melee monsters upfront: Djinn Chwala and Carnage Titan. Djinn Chwala already comes with a relatively high damage of four which is amplified when Djinn Chwala gets enraged. Carnage Titan is great because it delivers six melee damage from the second position using it's double strike ability, so it is great at avoiding force shield ability in case that is what my opponent decides to play upfront.

After the two melee monsters upfront I played Djinn Renova followed by Iziar and since this was a brawl battle it was followed by Captain Katie. Captain Katie is a great monster to play in the back of this lineup because it is basically unreachable in this ruleset unless our opponent decides to use a monster with a Scattershot ability. Katie is in the very back of the lineup hidden by the Camouflage ability of Lily Shieldpaw and has plenty of time to get some kills under her belt in order to trigger her Bloodlust ability.

Finally I didn't play monsters that deal splash damage such as Chaos Dragon because we have a Deflection Field in our ruleset:

The Battle

Now let's take a look at the battle I had in Brawl against champion-slayer. It looks like he chose the same summoner: Lily Shieldpaw and also played Iziar as his taunt and martyr monster. Other than that he chose to play a double weapons training strategy with both magic and ranged weapons training of the Helmet Kharafax which is a very capable gladiator card with bloodlust, scavenger and void abilities. This card could become really dangerous if it manages to kill our taunt monster and starts racking up kills. So without further delay let's see how all of this will play out:

In the first round we didn't get much in terms of progress and it is totally not clear if we are winning. We are one health point ahead on Iziar, but that can quickly change as they have big range damage dealing monsters:

In fact it was not clear until Round Five that we are starting to out-heal our opponent and starting to pull ahead:

As you can see our melee monsters are doing the heavy lifting here while the double triage is keeping our Iziar in the game.

Finally in Round five we took out their main tank and started to really chip away at their Iziar.

And in round six their Iziar falls and at the start of round seven we are poised to take out their Avis Sturgis:

And by round nine it is all over as we take an important victory over our opponent in a Tier Five Brawl without loosing a single monster! :
