My aloe vera succulent is in bloom!
If you guessed that this aloe vera plant is about four years old, then you are right! With the right growing conditions, aloe vera will bloom from three to four years during spring or summer.
It is possible for the aloe vera to flower twice a year: once during spring and another time again in autumn.
And the blooms last very long... from three to six months!
My aloe vera plant's flowers are pinkish-orange. I don't pretend to know much about succulents, but there are many types of aloe vera, and the color of flowers varies depending on the species of aloe vera.
If you are wondering if what you see is the full bloom of the aloe vera, the answer is- not quite! Its flowers will slightly open starting from the bottom of the stalk to the top.
First, a flower stalk will appear from the main rosette of leaves, and then many elongated bell-shaped flowers will form.
So far, there is only one flower stalk in my plant, but there can be two or three.
It was just one, very tiny plant when I first got this aloe vera.
In four years, it has grown so much!
The little baby plants will have to be
as old as the original plant before they bloom.
I count ten of them!
