The food may be cheap, but the moment is much more expensive.
Sometimes, a healthy friendship that works for me is to not seeing my friend very often. That’s the case with this one friend I met in collage. We were only being classmate for a year, then I switched to take night classes, which meant we were physically apart most of the time from then on. But somehow our friendship survived. I don’t know how to explain it, but I feel like our friendship is one of the strongest relationship I’ve ever had. We didn’t see each other very often. Within a year, I think we probably only saw each other twice. So that day was one of those days.
The day before we met, I send her bunch of tiktok videos about recommendations for cafes and places in the city so she can choose the ones she prefer. I was the one who picked them first, so I’m fine with whatever place she ends up chosing. We were actually only plan to go to one destination, but she mentioned that there’s one place near the other so we agreed to go to both.
The first place was actually a café with lots of greenery *maybe I will write about it on my next café review blog. When we were there, it rained for quite a while which was lovely but made us hesitant to go to our second destination. However, as we chat while wait for the rain to stop so we could go home, we were both felt hungry but didn’t really want to buy any meals from the café where we were staying.
Our second destination is actually has a lot of food stalls and even restaurants, so we searched online once again if we could find place to eat in that area. Turns out, there’s a ramen shop called Joffi Ramen. The first reason the place caught our attention was because the price was quite affordable. Their main ramen menu is around $1, so we didn’t have any hesitation to go there.
It was still drizzling while each of us ride our motorbike and tried to find the place by following google maps. So I felt a bit cold. I believe It took about 10 or 15 minutes to get to Joffi Ramen. The place is quite small but since there were only a few people that day, we still felt comfortable. It has simple design with Japanese feeling. It's minimalist yet feels so warm. Since my friend and I went there on national holiday, we were suprised this place doesn't have many visitors. Because their space is really nice and the menu prices are affordable too.
I ordered Mala Ramen, which from the description was “ramen with Asian spicy herbs and mala broth”. I chose that one only because it looks red🤣 I like spicy food and need it to warm my body. My friend ordered Shoyu Ramen, which has the description "ramen with shoyu broth is suitable for those of you who like a light taste"
This post isn’t going to review how the ramen taste, because I don't know how to🤣 I've tried Ramen YA! in my city and the taste didn’t make me crave more, so it was quite okay for me. Other than that, I once bought a random ramen from a random food stall a few years ago and I remember didn’t find any interesting taste that stick with me either. So, I have no complain about Joffi Ramen because it’s a good place with good food that’s worth trying. Especially since I went there with my good friend, enjoying our warm ramen after get caught in the rain. It was definitely the warmest $1 ramen I’ve ever had.
