This Tuesday is an interesting one, not only is it a Three Tune Tuesday but it's also a Leo Power Up Day. Also for us in the United States, it's also tax day (which of course royally sucks...) But at least the first two aren't too bad! So, to kick off the fun I powered up some LEO this morning at just before six in the morning. I tend to get an early start, never did kick that old Army habit.
So just over 152 LEO powered up, not too bad for the month!
Next up, it's time to dive into Three Tune Tuesday! First off thanks to @ablaze for starting and continuing to sponsor this fun weekly event. Being a LEO Power Up Day I was thinking of a big cat theme, so I think I found some good options. Let's get busy!
Def Leppard
Def Leppard are a band out of Sheffield, England formed in 1976. Their front man Joe Elliot joined the band after missing his bus home one day, and ran into the band's manager while walking home. After an audition, he fronted the band into the hall of rock and roll legends. In 1983 they released Pyromania which did well in sales, but in 1987 they released Hysteria which made them rock and roll gods. There were multiple hits on the album, and one of the biggest was "Pour Some Sugar On Me":
White Lion
You will note another big cat song, this time with an actual lion! lol This band formed in 1983 fronted by Danish singer Mike Tramp. He started in Denmark, moved to Spain, and eventually New York City where he formed the band White Lion. While they never were a huge band like the first pick of the day, they did have a few good songs. In 1987 they released the album Pride which spawned the big hit "Wait" which I'm sharing today. It's a pretty good song, and you can enjoy the very big hair from the 1980's!
John Cougar Mellencamp
Active in the music business since 1974, this Indiana native hit the charts in 1982 with his album American Fool. Since then he has become a music rock n roll legend with multiple hits throughout the eighties and into the nineties. In 1983 he released the album Uh-Huh that contained this famous anti-authority song, aptly named "Authority Song". Being tax day and all, I thought it fit perfectly!
Dire Straits
Bonus time! @cryptounicorn420 got this song stuck in my head by one the great bands from the 1980's. This was from the early days of MTV back when they actually played music videos 24/7. If you hear the background voice you will recognize Sting, just a fun tidbit. This band became huge and were inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame in 2018. Sadly, they haven't performed in many long years, mostly because front man Mark Knopler felt they just became too big and didn't enjoy that much fame. But a classic song, "Money For Nothing" the original version without a verse cut out. If you know the song you know what I mean!
