Happy Friday everyone! It's not been a great week for Hive prices, so I'm not going there today. It's been a couple weeks since I put together a Nineties Friday post and today it just sounded like a fun post to put together. This is an event that comes around each Friday where you can create a post to share just about anything from the 1990's. It's a lot of fun, just use the tag #ninetiesfriday and it's never a bad idea to do a shoutout to @geneeverett . He started the event and someone usually walks away with some HSBI units!

Today we're jumping back to 1999 with the classic film The Mummy starring Brendan Frazier and Rachel Weisz. This was a remake of the original film by the same name from 1932, if you've seen that one kudos to you! The 1999 version is a good action movie with lots of excitement and well worth watching. In the film a mummy is accidentally brought back to life with powers to rule over or destroy mankind. The heroes have to race to stop the creature from reigning terror all over the world.

Here's one of the classic trailers:

Now for some music from the decade, because it's not a true 90's Friday without some fun tunes!

Nirvana

What would the 90's music scene have been like without Nirvana? The band formed in Aberdeen, Washington in 1987 and were destined for rock n roll greatness. The best known lineup was put together in 1990 when Dave Grohl joined the band on drums, fronted by Kurt Cobain, and Krist Novoselic on guitar. Their album Nevermind was released in 1991 and literally changed the world of rock music. Here's the classic hit that helped that happen, "Smells Like Teen Spirit":

Foo Fighters

Formed in Seattle, Washington by Dave Grohl in 1994, this prolific band has produced a string of hits since their debut album in 1995. Today's song comes off their second album The Colour and the Shape released in 1997, and this is live performance from London back in 2008. They area great live band if you ever have the chance to see them. This is "Monkey Wrench":

INXS

Often thought of as an eighties band only, they did release an album in 1990 called X. This Australian band formed in Sydney in 1977 and became one of the most successful bands of the 1980's. In 1990 they had one last big hit by the name of "Suicide Blonde":

Soundgarden

Another Seattle band that helped define the music of the 90's was Soundgarden. Formed in 1984 they produced a couple of albums in the 1980's, one particular album in 1989 Louder Than Love set them up for their huge album Badmotorfinger in 1991. But off of Louder Than Love they had some great songs, like this one that gained them a huge following. "Loud Love":

I spent most of the 1990's living in Spanish speaking countries, so I always like to add in a song from the era in Spanish.

La Oreja de Van Gogh

This Spanish band formed in 1996 and was fronted by Amaia Montero until 2007. Her unique voice is really what made the band great. The band's name literally translated means Van Gogh's Ear. Upon release of their album Dile al Sol (Tell it to the sun) in 1998 they became a breakout success throughout the Spanish speaking world. This song is "El 28" (The 28th):

That will wrap up this Friday's post, I hope you enjoyed it. Thanks for taking the time to check it out and thanks for all of your support. Please feel free to leave any comments or questions below, and have a great weekend everyone!
