Picking up right where we left off! Progress from the past seven days has been great! Full of excitement and adjustments!
I mentioned in last week's POST that I, in preparation for the new set, will convert my Epic Magical Forest as my dedicated Aura Lab.
What I did is build more than just one. I built 4 Aura Labs.
As soon as the Maintenance Update was completed on the 29th of April, I immediately obtained 4 permits from the Artisan Quarter, the place where you can apply for permits (Permit Office) and craft potions (Crafting Station). This is also where the combining of Totem fragments (Restoration Lab) is now located.
10,000 Research Points are required for each permit.
The Conversion: From One Worksite to Another
I went on to visit my Epic Magical worksite to prep it for reconstruction. Initially, the plot was generating a generous amount of Wood, but now it's time to repurpose it to collect Aura instead.
I decided I did not want to use Time Crystals and that I can wait the full 24 hours before construction is completed.
I followed the same steps for the 3 other plots I handpicked to be the location of more Aura Labs. These are the three Rare Magical Bogs in my tract in Region 50.
The next day, shortly after the 24-hour mark, I completed the construction of my new Aura Labs.
I now have multiple plots that can produce a daily supply of Aura for crafting Midnight Potions.
I also played around with the reallocation of workers. I wanted the other 3 labs to produce as much Aura as possible with the remainder of the assets I own.
As soon as the 3-day worker cooldown ended, I performed my very first Aura claim and then reassigned some workers.
My updated Aura Harvesters lineup is as follows:
Pretty good...
I have collected these assets a while back when they were significantly cheaper. These high PP cards used to live in Shard Mines.
It took a while before I finally decided to move them around. I hope they are happy in their new homes.
Routine Harvest: Resource Gathering
At first, before Land 1.75, when Totems Fragments can still be discovered from harvesting natural resources, I would perform daily harvests.
Now that totem fragments can only be encountered when claiming Keep and Castle taxes and when claiming Research from Research Huts, I switched over to a once or twice a week harvest.
I started with our Community Tract in Region 46. I first claimed the natural resources from plots I own.
Below is what my Keep here has accumulated in taxes:
Free Aura! This is one of the benefits of being a Keep owner. You get a portion of all the resource production happening within that tract.
Owning a Castle is the same, except this Mythical building has a wider reach. You get a portion of all the resources produced region-wide!
It didn't take long for me to craft my very first Midnight Potions.
Shortly after claiming the taxes, I went straight to the Artisan Quarter, and onto the Crafting Station.
As a token of my appreciation for starting a community with me, and for building Aura Labs within the community tract, I rewarded these potions to @elrmapa.
He's one of the first ones to reach out to me regarding approach to Splinterlands land.
He has been accumulating plots a while now, and has expressed interest in further expanding his holdings.
The rest of the sellable resources from this Keep's taxes, I donated to our guild: TEAMPH.
My approach to my personal tract in Region 50 is a little different. My Aura Labs are located here and I had known from the start that I do not have enough of all the resources needed to claim these Auras.
Not to worry as there is always a way to acquire these required materials via the Trade Hub.
Right after claiming natural resources, I went on to exchange some of my excess materials.
I now have enough materials to claim Aura.
My Keep is next. Below are the resources accumulated for the week:
Earning passively from digital assets. This is nice.
Weekly Swaps and Deposit: DCA'ing into the Pool
This week, my expectation was that I would be making less due to some of the resources I would typically swap for DEC would be consumed to harvest Aura instead.
To my surprise, I still made more than the past week! 1,439 DEC more, to be exact. How did this happen?!
-
4/27 - Did not claim
-
4/28 - Did not claim
-
4/29 - 17,765 DEC
-
4/30 - 5,654 DEC
-
5/1 - Did not claim
-
5/2 - 8,014 DEC
-
5/3 - 3,121 DEC
-
TOTAL - 34,554 DEC
Regarding my weekly LP deposit, I added my excess Grain into the pool. I used a portion of my earned DEC to pair the Grain with.
More ways to earn. Isn't it neat?
Land Beginner: No Grain Plot? No Problem
I would like to reiterate (again) that not having a grain-producing plot is not the end of the world. I think this is what might scare off a lot of the newer players that are considering investing in Splinterlands land.
I understand that it is more convenient to own a grain plot as it is "less maintenance" but I can assure you, it is not that hard to obtain the food your workers need to consume in case you can only build Wood, Stone, or Iron worksites.
Let's take one last look at this plot I developed in a not-so-distant region.
This beautiful plot is a Canyon in Region 81. The worksite is a Quarry, which means Stone is the primary resource that can be gathered here.
Obviously, we do not have enough grain to complete this week's claim. We have to utilize the Trade Hub again to trade some of the previously harvested Stone to acquire some Grain.
Good thing we have at least 1,300 Stone in stock. We will trade some of these to get just enough Grain for our lone Quarry worker to consume.
Now we have enough Grain to claim the harvested Stone.
The net amount we have acquired in this Region is now at least 1,730 Stone. We have been accumulating this since we started this journey as evidenced in this ARTICLE.
I hope this has helped convince you that grain plots are not mandatory to begin your Splinterlands Land Journey.
Grain plots are being priced way higher than other plots by a lot of sellers on the market. If you do not want to pay that high of a premium, I believe you'd still be fine acquiring other plot types.
Conclave Arcana: Right Around the Corner
The arrival of Splinterlands' most anticipated set is getting closer and closer!
Though I most likely will not participate in the presale, I am still excited for this upcoming set.
The Aura Labs I have developed will collect Aura which will be then converted to Midnight Potions to support players who are chasing the elusive Black Foils and Arcane versions of cards in this new set!
Must resist FOMO....
Speaking of Midnight Potions, let's calculate how much I can craft daily.
🔨 But production is just the beginning—Wood, Stone, and Iron will also be required to generate SPS & Research. The consumption rates will match the production rates, meaning that when you harvest SPS or Research:
Every 1 base Production Point spent per hour toward production will consume
0.005 Wood
0.002 Stone
0.0005 Iron
To put this into perspective:
💡 If you have a 5,000 Production Point Research plot, you'll need an equal amount of Wood, Stone, and Iron production to match it (along with enough Grain) to be fully self-sufficient.
Per the image above, total Production on my 4 Aura Labs is 697,895 PP. The production of Aura is similar to Iron, which is 0.0005 per hour.
Aura production is 0.0005/hour, the same rate as iron, and crafting a Midnight Potion requires 40 Aura.
100% Bonus production applies on Magical or Occupied plots.
(Boosted PP) * (Production Rate) = Quantity of Aura
697,895 * 0.0005 = 348.9475 Auras. Almost 350 per hour!
Still need to deduct 10% in taxes so we get: 314.05 Auras per hour.
Calculating for a daily quantity, we get 7,537.2 Auras per day.
Total amount of Potions I can craft daily: 188 Midnight Potions.
That should cover at least 37 Booster Packs everyday.
I know a lot of players who went (or are planning to go) big in the presale either already have been crafting their own potions or buying them off the market.
Others might be waiting until after the general release of the new set.
My plan is to sell the potions I am crafting, too, though I am offering these to friends and guildmates first so they can get competitive pricing in case they are interested in these items.
I also couldn't wait to hear about Conflict Wagons! All we know at the moment is that Land Resources will be required to build and repair these in order to collect airdropped cards!
How much resources will be needed? Would the wagons require Auras too? Will there be other uses for these Land Resources?
I guess we'll have to stay tuned as news about this can be dropped any time now!
Final Thoughts and Next Steps
Even with the excitement in the upcoming set, I am still inclined to focus on expanding my Land assets.
I have been building my land holdings since the early days of Land and I don't think I'm done yet.
I want to inspire others to own more of these scarce, precious assets, and keep exploring the Praetorian landscape!
As a testament to my conviction and trust in Splinterlands Land, I bought myself more plots.
I recently reached 300 plots. Now I am at 318!
Keep 'em comin'!
Regarding pack sales, I think I'd stay put and just watch from the sidelines.
I am glad lots of players have already participated. Some are even jockeying for leaderboard positions and I believe others will buy more during the general sale!
Considering I will still play Ranked Battles and Brawls, I just might opt to buy singles off the market.
When other people win, we as a community, also win.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this article. I hope I was able to provide valuable information and impart some ideas that can help you decide your next steps. I have grown my Splinterlands assets over the years and I plan to keep on building!
Whether you prefer the exhilaration of playing battles, the calmness and idleness of building your digital real estate, or just the fun of collecting these fancy images of collectible cards, I am hopeful that you enjoy your time here in Praetoria!
