WATCH THE MOVIE "PENGEPUNGAN DI BUKIT DURI"

Hello everyone! ✨
As is the tradition every holiday, I always invite my two younger sisters to watch a movie together. But this time... plot twist! My youngest sister was the one who invited me to watch it first. She suddenly blurted out,
“Sis, let's watch PENGEPUNGAN DI BUKIT DURI!”
I immediately,
“Huh? What's that? A war movie? History?”
But when I showed the trailer, it turned out to be exciting and full of mystery! So, let's go to the cinema~ 🎬🍿

💥 THIS IS THE SYNOPSIS 💥

So the story is about a country that was destroyed because of a big riot. The people feel like they are living in a world without rules – free, wild, and... scary! The city is full of chaos, justice seems to have retired early there. Edwin, the teacher, is looking for his missing nephew in every school and finally he is directed to Bukit Duri school (a school for outcast students). And from there, the story begins to focus on the conflict between teachers and students which... hmmm, you could say it's tragic but also makes you think.

💥 CINEMATOGRAPHY: VERY DARK, BUT IN A MEANING TOO 💥

I thought I would watch an ordinary movie, but it turned out I was immediately forced into a gloomy atmosphere from beginning to end.

The settings are mostly in slums and creepy places, making us really feel that the city is indeed chaotic and mentally destroyed. Even when I saw it on the big screen, I thought, "How can a place as dark as this be the center of the story?" But that's the strength of this film - the cinematography makes our feelings damaged along with the city.

💥 THE STORY IS A LITTLE ABSURD, BUT… THERE’S A DEEP MEANING 💥

I swear, there are some parts that made me scratch my head – because there are a lot of harsh words and uncomfortable scenes. But behind all that, there’s a really deep moral message, huaaaa 😭

This movie really teaches that the role of parents, environment, and affection are very important in shaping a child’s character.

One of the scenes that made me feel sad was when a good student had to lose his life just because he was close to a “problematic” friend. It hurts… but it’s also real. 😔

💥 WORDS FULL OF MEANING 💥

For me personally, this movie shows that sometimes trivial things – like a small reprimand from a teacher – can have a really big impact.

"You never know what kind of battle someone’s fighting inside. A careless word might be the thing that breaks them."

💥 THIS IS THE CONCLUSION! 💥

So this, the film "Pengepungan di Bukit Duri" is not only a suspenseful spectacle but also full of reflection. Behind all the action and conflict, we are taught a lesson that:

Don't underestimate words. Don't ignore feelings. And most importantly, don't be a parent (or teacher) who only demands without understanding.

Even though watching it made my head smoke, my forehead wrinkled and my heart sank. I'm still happy to be able to watch this with my little sisters. Makes us have long conversations about life and how important empathy is 💬

If you like "dark but deep" films, this must be on your watch list!
But prepare yourself mentally too... and don't forget to hold someone close so you can hug when you're feeling nervous! 🤭
